This VEVOR deep well submersible pump is a 4-inch stainless steel unit that sits down inside a well, reservoir or similar water source and pushes water up to the surface. It runs on 115V/60Hz and is described as suited to irrigation, home water supply and light industrial use. Pump specifications can be confusing, so this page explains the main figures.

Flow and head: the two numbers that matter

Every pump has a trade-off between how much water it moves and how high it can lift it. VEVOR lists a maximum flow of 37 GPM (gallons per minute) and a maximum head of 207 ft. "Head" is the height the pump can raise water against gravity, and it includes friction loss in the pipe and the pressure you need at the outlet. In general, flow falls as head rises, so the 37 GPM figure applies near the lowest head, and at the full 207 ft the flow will be far lower. Look for the pump's performance curve in the manual to see what you'd get at your own depth.

Power and construction

The listing gives 1.9HP input and 1.0HP output at 115V. The pump has six stages of thermoplastic impellers, a copper motor and a high-precision rotor. The whole body, including the outlet and connecting parts, is stainless steel, which VEVOR says resists rust and corrosion underwater. It lists ETL certification and an IP68 waterproof grade, and describes a service life of 8 to 10 years. Treat that last figure as the brand's claim; real life depends on water quality, depth and how the pump is run.

Size and connections

The pump is 4 inches in diameter and about 31.5 inches long, and weighs 25 lb (about 11 kg). The discharge is 1-1/4 inch NPT. VEVOR specifies that the well casing must be at least 10 mm (0.39 in) wider than the pump. A 33 ft electric cord is supplied.

Protection features

The motor has built-in overheat protection and stops automatically if it's stuck or running abnormally. VEVOR also warns not to run it without water or at a low water level, which can cause damage. A built-in check valve helps prevent backflow, though the brand says an additional check valve is strongly recommended. A stainless steel mesh filters impurities, and for a newly drilled well that may carry sediment, VEVOR suggests adding a layer of gauze at the inlet.

Where it's used

The listing mentions deep wells, reservoirs, canals and rivers, plus garden watering, sprinklers and farmland. Pumps for drinking water have their own requirements, so check that the materials and certifications suit that use before connecting it to a household supply.

Who it suits

It suits owners of a 4-inch or larger well who need a household or irrigation supply and have a 115V circuit available. It is less suited to deeper wells, higher flow targets or narrow casings.

What to check before you buy

  • Well depth and water level: compare them with the 207 ft maximum head and the 33 ft cord, plus the pipe length you'll need.
  • Casing diameter: it must exceed 4 inches by at least 10 mm.
  • Electrical supply: check the circuit, wiring and protection with a qualified electrician and follow local codes and the manual.
  • Fittings: you'll need pipe, a check valve and suitable support for the 1-1/4 inch NPT outlet.
  • Sediment: consider a gauze layer for a new well.
  • Running dry: plan how you'll keep the water level above the pump.

The short version

  • A 1HP (output), 115V stainless steel submersible pump, 4 inches across.
  • Up to 37 GPM and 207 ft maximum head, with six thermoplastic impeller stages.
  • Copper motor with overheat protection, built-in check valve and filter mesh.
  • 33 ft cord, 1-1/4 inch NPT discharge, IP68, ETL listed.
  • Never run it dry.
