The VEVOR condenser fan motor (model YDK250-6G71) is a replacement motor for the outdoor fan of an air-conditioning or heat-pump condenser. It is a 1/3 HP, single-phase motor for 208-230V, and it comes with a matching capacitor. This is a replacement part, not a complete appliance, so the question is whether it fits your unit.
What the electrical specs mean
VEVOR lists the motor as 1/3 HP, 60 Hz, 208-230V AC, 1075 RPM, single phase, with a rated current of 2.2A. Here is what that means in practice:
- 1/3 HP is the mechanical output. Condenser fans commonly use motors from 1/6 to 1/2 HP, so match the horsepower of the motor you're replacing.
- 208-230V, single phase is the supply typical of residential and light commercial outdoor units in North America.
- 1075 RPM is the nominal speed. It affects airflow, so it should match the original.
- 2.2A is the current the motor draws at full load.
Frame, shaft and rotation
Mechanical fit matters as much as electrical. VEVOR lists a 48Y frame, a 6.02-inch shaft length and a 0.5-inch shaft diameter. The motor supports reversible rotation, either clockwise or counter-clockwise, which means one motor can fill both roles. A 47-inch cut-to-length wire is included for wiring, so it can be trimmed to suit. Compare these dimensions with the old motor before ordering. The motor weighs 14.3 lb and measures 5.6 x 5.6 x 11.3 inches.
The capacitor
A capacitor gives a single-phase motor its start and running torque. VEVOR notes that replacing the motor also requires replacing the capacitor, and includes one, which it calls explosion-proof. Use the capacitor value specified for the motor, as listed in the manual, and don't mix it up with the old one.
Materials and protection
VEVOR says the motor has a pure copper coil, stainless steel bearings and overload protection with automatic reset, and that it is built for all-weather use in ambient temperatures up to 40°C (104°F). Automatic reset means that after a thermal cut-out, the motor can restart once it has cooled. The cause of the overheating still needs finding.
Listed compatibility
VEVOR names these equivalents: GE Genteq K55HXGDD-81195 and 5KCP39GGY209AS; Fasco D925, D7908, D748 and D7748; Carrier HQ1085926EM; Dayton Grainger EM3729F; Century FSE1036SV1 and FSE1036SF; Rheem Ruud 51-100998-05; and A.O. Smith ORM5458B. If your existing motor carries one of these numbers, compare the whole nameplate, not just the part number.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners with HVAC experience and technicians replacing a failed condenser fan motor. Work on air-conditioning equipment involves mains voltage and stored charge in capacitors. Disconnect power, discharge the capacitor properly, follow the manual and local codes, and use a qualified technician if you aren't trained.
What to check before you buy
- Nameplate: match horsepower, voltage, RPM, frame and rotation to the old motor.
- Shaft: confirm length and diameter.
- Mounting: check the bracket and fan blade fit the 48Y frame.
- Capacitor: make sure its values suit your unit.
- Rotation: check which direction your fan turns and wire accordingly.
- Ambient temperature: the 40°C limit matters in hot climates.
The short version
- A 1/3 HP, 1075 RPM, 208-230V single-phase condenser fan motor rated at 2.2A.
- 48Y frame, 0.5-inch shaft and reversible rotation.
- Includes a capacitor and 47-inch wire.
- Lists compatibility with GE Genteq, Fasco, Carrier, Dayton, Century, Rheem Ruud and A.O. Smith models.
- Verify the nameplate and follow electrical safety practice.
