The ELEGOO Saturn 3 Ultra is a resin 3D printer built around a 10-inch 12K monochrome LCD. It offers a larger build volume than ELEGOO's smaller models, along with Wi-Fi file transfer and a Linux-based system. It suits makers who print detailed models and want room for bigger parts or several pieces at once.
How the printing process works
This is an MSLA printer. A UV light shines through an LCD mask and cures a full layer of liquid resin at a time, then the build plate lifts to start the next. Print time therefore depends mainly on height, not on how much sits on the plate. That makes larger plates good for printing many small items together.
Screen, resolution and speed
The screen resolution is 11520 x 5120 pixels, giving the XY resolution ELEGOO lists as 19 x 24 µm. Z-axis accuracy is 0.01 mm and layer thickness ranges from 0.01 to 0.2 mm. ELEGOO says speeds can reach 150 mm/h with its rapid standard resin and the ACF release film. ACF film is a release liner at the bottom of the resin vat that is designed to let each layer peel away more easily.
Light source and cooling
The COB plus refractive light source works at 405 nm. ELEGOO says it spreads light more evenly, giving smoother surfaces and better accuracy. Dual heat-conducting copper tubes and cooling fans manage heat, which the brand says extends the printer's life.
Build volume and motion
The build volume is 218.88 x 122.88 x 260 mm. The laser-carved build plate helps models stick, and the Z axis uses an integrated ball screw with dual linear guides, which ELEGOO says allows faster, more stable movement.
Controls, connectivity and software
A 4-inch capacitive IPS touch screen supports several languages. Files can be sent over USB or Wi-Fi using the detachable antenna. ELEGOO provides Voxeldance Tango Slicer with three printing modes, plus the open-source GOO file format, and Chitu Box is also listed.
Resin safety and care
ELEGOO's precautions include gloves and a mask, indoor use away from sunlight and dust, filling the tank between one-third and the MAX line, and washing prints in 95% or stronger ethyl or isopropyl alcohol unless using water-washable resin. If the release film whitens, scratches or loses elasticity, replace it. Follow the manual and the resin maker's advice.
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists and small studios that print figures, miniatures and detailed parts and want larger plates, quicker network transfer and a wider build area.
What to check before you buy
- Space: about 305.9 x 273 x 562.5 mm assembled, plus room for washing and curing.
- Weight and workspace: ensure a stable table and ventilation.
- Consumables: resin, alcohol, gloves and spare release film.
- Network: confirm Wi-Fi coverage where you'll print.
- Part sizes: check models fit the build volume.
