The ELEGOO Neptune 4 Plus is a filament (FDM) 3D printer with a large build volume and Klipper firmware. It is designed for people who print bigger parts or several objects in one run, and who want quick printing with automatic calibration.
Build volume
ELEGOO lists a build volume of 320 x 320 x 385 mm (12.59 x 12.59 x 15.15 inches). That is large enough for things like helmets, enclosures, cosplay parts or a full plate of small items. Bigger prints take longer and use more filament, so size is worth matching to your needs.
Speed and Klipper firmware
The printer runs Klipper firmware. ELEGOO quotes speeds up to 500 mm/s (default 250 mm/s) and acceleration up to 12,000 mm/s², and recommends rapid filament for high-speed mode. Real-world speed depends on the model, material and quality target, and quoted maxima are typically only reached on simple shapes.
Print quality features
Input shaping and pressure advance are supported. Input shaping uses acceleration sensors on the X and Y axes for automatic calibration, reducing ringing caused by vibration at high speeds. Pressure advance compensates for filament pressure in the nozzle, which typically sharpens corners.
Extruder and hot end
A self-developed dual-gear direct drive extruder with a 5.2:1 reduction ratio sits directly above the hot end, which gives close control of filament, including flexible materials such as TPU. The hot end reaches 300°C with a 60W ceramic heating element and automatic PID calibration. ELEGOO lists PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU and nylon as supported filaments. A metal throat pipe and an air-duct design aim to reduce clogging.
Cooling and levelling
Double-sided cooling fans and model-cooling blower fans help prevent warping and improve detail on overhangs. The printer has auto levelling, so the bed is measured for you rather than adjusted by hand.
Connectivity
Print jobs can be sent by Wi-Fi, USB or LAN, with one-key file transfer. The unit measures about 20.4 x 21 x 25.5 inches (52 x 53 x 65 cm) and weighs 31.7 lb (about 14.4 kg).
Who it suits
It suits hobbyists and makers who want big prints and fast results, and who are comfortable with a firmware-based workflow. It may be more than a beginner who prints small items needs.
What to check before you buy
- Space: the footprint is large, so measure the desk, and allow room for the moving bed.
- Materials: confirm your filament's temperature needs fit a 300°C nozzle. Some materials need ventilation or an enclosure.
- Ventilation: follow the manual on hot-end temperatures and fumes.
- Filament: high-speed mode works best with rapid filament, per ELEGOO.
- Network: check Wi-Fi or LAN access where you'll print.
