The DEWENWILS 300W Wi-Fi transformer (model TD-300S-12WF-2) powers low voltage landscape lighting and lets you control it from your phone. It divides the 300W output into three independent zones, so path lights, deck lights and garden spotlights can each follow their own schedule.

Three independent zones

Each zone has its own output control, and DEWENWILS says you can choose 12V or 14V AC for each. That matters in a garden where one run is short and another is long, since a longer cable loses more voltage along its length. Terminals are described as upgraded clamp-connect terminals, intended to make wiring easier than screw terminals.

The 300W is the total for the unit, shared across the three zones. Add up the fixtures on each zone and keep the combined load safely under that limit.

App and voice control

The transformer works with the DEWENWILS app, and with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice commands and automations. The brand says no hub is needed. One restriction is stated clearly in the listing: it supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only. Many routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, and some phones pair only when connected to the 2.4GHz band, so check this before setting up. Wi-Fi signal also needs to reach the transformer's location, which is often outdoors or in a garage, away from the router.

Five timer modes

To pair, you press the "+" button, and the transformer connects with the app. You can then pick from five timer modes for each zone:

  • Schedule: set times, on selected days.
  • Circulate: repeating on and off cycles.
  • Random: varied times, often used to make a home look occupied.
  • Countdown: run for a set period, then turn off.
  • Astronomical: follows sunrise and sunset for your location.

Protection and materials

The unit includes overcurrent and overload protection, and DEWENWILS says it automatically shuts off if current thresholds are exceeded. It converts 120V AC to 12V or 14V AC, and is listed for landscape, walkway, LED and deck lighting. The case is stainless steel, which the brand says is waterproof and corrosion-resistant against rain, snow and dust, for indoor or outdoor installation. It measures 3.9 x 6.6 x 13.7 inches and weighs 14.1 lb (about 6.4 kg).

Who it suits

It suits homeowners with several lighting areas who want different schedules for each, and who are comfortable with a phone app and a smart speaker.

What to check before you buy

  • Wi-Fi band: the transformer supports 2.4GHz only; check your router and signal at the mounting spot.
  • Fixtures: confirm they run on 12V or 14V AC and add up the wattage per zone.
  • Total load: keep within 300W, with some headroom.
  • Voice platform: confirm you use Alexa or Google Assistant if you want voice control.
  • Mounting: you need a nearby outlet and a firm fixing for a 14 lb unit.
  • Codes and manual: follow local electrical codes and the manual for outdoor wiring.
