The VEVOR 15FT Inflatable Movie Screen (model QC-ZJ-15FTD) is a freestanding projector screen that stands up on a stream of air. It is meant for backyard movie nights, poolside screenings and parties, where a fixed screen or a bare wall isn't an option. It packs into a bag when the night is over.

How an inflatable screen works

The screen is a fabric frame with air chambers. A blower pushes air in, the frame rises, and the blower keeps running to hold it up for the whole show. VEVOR includes a 120W low-noise blower and says the screen is fully inflated in about one minute. Because the blower stays plugged in, you need an outdoor-safe power source within reach of the cord. Deflating and folding it away is the reverse: switch off the blower, let the air out and roll it into the supplied portable storage bag.

Screen size and aspect ratio

VEVOR gives the screen size as 8.62 x 4.82 ft (roughly 2.63 x 1.47 m), with a 16:9 aspect ratio. That is the shape of most films, streaming content and modern projectors, so the picture typically fills the whole surface without black bars. The overall item measures 103.5 in x 57.9 in and weighs 11.6 lb (about 5.3 kg).

The name says 15FT, but the viewing surface is smaller than that, so compare the listed screen size with the diagonal your projector is designed for.

Front and rear projection

According to VEVOR, the screen works for both front and rear projection. With front projection, the projector sits on the same side as the audience. With rear projection, it sits behind the screen and the picture shines through, which keeps people and equipment out of the light path and hides the projector from view. Rear projection needs a clear space behind the screen, so think about the layout of your yard.

Fabric and cleaning

The screen is made from Oxford fabric, which VEVOR describes as crease-resistant, stain-resistant and washable with water. The panel is attached with hook-and-loop fastening (magic tape), which the brand says makes it easier to reassemble than buckle-style screens. Oxford fabric is a woven polyester that is commonly used in outdoor gear, so it typically tolerates being folded and stored.

Viewing angle and where to use it

The listing describes a wide viewing angle, so people seated to the sides can still see the picture. VEVOR suggests poolside screenings, backyards, weddings, festive events, parties, the beach and camping trips. Outdoors, brightness matters: a projector's picture looks much stronger after dark, so evening is usually the time to use it. Wind can also act on any large, light screen, so set it up in a sheltered spot and anchor it as the manual describes.

Who it suits

It suits families and hosts who want an occasional outdoor cinema and don't want to leave a permanent screen up. It also suits people who need to move a screen between venues, since it folds into a bag and weighs a little under 12 lb.

What to check before you buy

  • Projector fit: confirm your projector supports 16:9 and can throw an image of this size from the distance you have.
  • Power: you need an outlet or a suitable outdoor-rated extension within reach of the blower, for the whole length of the show.
  • Space: measure for the screen, the audience and, if you use rear projection, the area behind it.
  • Wind and ground: follow the manual on anchoring and on weather limits.
  • Sound: the screen has no speakers, so plan audio separately.
  • Storage: dry the fabric before packing it away.
