This VEVOR fixed-frame projector screen has a 130-inch diagonal and a 16:9 shape. It hangs on a wall, and the screen is held flat by tension rods inside an aluminum frame. It is meant for home theatres, living rooms, classrooms and meeting rooms where a projector is used regularly in the same place.
Size and shape
The framed size is 118 x 68.5 inches (about 300 x 174 cm), and the viewing area is 113.3 x 63.7 inches (about 288 x 162 cm). The 16:9 shape matches most TVs, streaming video and games, and it suits 4K and HD projectors. The difference between frame and viewing area is the black border, which VEVOR says is covered in velvet. A dark border typically helps picture contrast and absorbs stray light at the edges.
This is a big screen. The packed item is listed at 75.6 x 11.4 x 6.3 inches, so the frame is shipped in sections and you assemble it.
What "1.2 gain" means
Gain describes how much light a screen reflects compared with a standard white reference. A gain of 1.0 is the reference, and 1.2 is VEVOR's figure for this surface, so it reflects slightly more light than that reference. Higher gain can give a brighter picture, though it may narrow the viewing angle or cause hot spots. VEVOR quotes a 160° viewing angle, which means people sitting well off to the side can still see the image.
Screen material
The surface is a nanometre-level optical-coated PVC. VEVOR says it gives brighter, softer images with strong colour reproduction, and describes it as flicker-proof. Compared with woven fabric screens, a PVC surface is smooth, and the brand says it can be cleaned with water. Machine washing is not allowed.
Frame and installation
The frame is a thick aluminum alloy. The screen is stretched over it with a tension rod system, which keeps it flat and taut. Top and bottom mounting brackets hold the frame to the wall, and VEVOR says it suits any wall type. Check the manual on fixings, because a frame of this size and weight needs solid anchoring, and drywall may need studs or suitable anchors.
Uses
The listing names homes, living rooms, pubs, classrooms, business and meeting rooms, cinemas and outdoor use. It says the screen is compatible with active 3D movies, 4K, TV, pictures and games.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a permanent, flat wall screen rather than a pull-down model, and who have a wall wide enough for the size.
What to check before you buy
- Wall space: measure for the 118 x 68.5 inch frame, plus clearance.
- Throw distance: check your projector's throw ratio to see whether it can fill a 130-inch image from where you plan to put it.
- Ambient light: a gain of 1.2 helps a little, but lights and windows still wash out the picture.
- Mounting: confirm your wall type and the anchors you will need.
- Assembly: a screen this big usually needs two people.
- Cleaning: water only, as the brand says.
