The Soundcore P20i (model A3949) is a pair of true wireless earbuds from Anker's audio brand. They combine 10mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.3, a pocketable charging case and an app with a set of equaliser presets. This page explains what those features mean for everyday listening.
Drivers and bass
Each earbud has a 10mm dynamic driver. Soundcore describes this as oversized for earbuds of this type and says it gives boosted bass. In general, a larger driver can move more air, which helps with low frequencies, but the final sound also depends on tuning, the seal in your ear and the music you play.
App, EQ presets and controls
Through the Soundcore app you can customise the touch controls and choose from 22 EQ presets. An equaliser lets you raise or lower bass, mids and treble, which is useful if you prefer a warmer or brighter sound, or want different settings for podcasts and music. The app also includes "Find My Earbuds", which Soundcore says makes a lost earbud emit a sound so you can locate it.
Battery and charging
Soundcore lists 10 hours of playtime from the earbuds on a single charge, extended to 30 hours in total by the charging case. A quick 10-minute charge is said to give 2 hours of playback. Battery life figures normally assume moderate volume, so loud listening or heavy use of calls will shorten them.
Calls
Two built-in microphones and an AI algorithm work together to pick up your voice, according to Soundcore, so you don't need to raise your voice on a call. Noise reduction on calls helps in busy streets, but performance varies with wind and surroundings.
Bluetooth 5.3
Bluetooth 5.3 is a recent version of the standard. Compared with older versions, it typically gives a more stable connection and better power efficiency. Your phone also needs to support it to get the full benefit, though older phones usually still connect.
Size and carrying
The earbuds and case are compact and light. The case is about 2.2 x 2.0 x 1.1 inches (5.6 x 5.1 x 2.8 cm) and weighs around 0.1 lb. A lanyard is attached, so it can clip to a bag or keys. The listing also describes the earbuds as water-resistant, but it doesn't give an IP grade, so check the manual before using them for sport or in the rain.
Who they suit
They suit commuters, students and anyone who wants a small pair of earbuds with app control. They don't list active noise cancellation, so they will let more outside sound through than a pair that does.
What to check before you buy
- Fit: check which ear tip sizes come in the box and whether the fit is comfortable for you.
- Noise cancellation: the listing doesn't mention it, so confirm you are happy without it.
- Water resistance: look for the exact level of protection in the manual.
- Phone compatibility: check that the Soundcore app supports your phone.
- Battery: remember that real playtime depends on volume and use.
