The Baseus Bass BP1 Pro is a pair of wireless earbuds that combine adaptive noise cancelling, support for the LDAC high-resolution audio codec and a long-lasting charging case. They use Bluetooth 6.0. This page explains what each feature means and who might want them.

How the noise cancelling works

Active noise cancelling uses microphones to pick up sound around you and plays an opposing signal to reduce it. Baseus says the BP1 Pro uses up to four real-time noise sensors with adaptive hybrid ANC, and that it reduces noise by up to 50 dB. Results depend on the sound: ANC typically works best on steady, low-pitched noise such as engines or air conditioning, and less well on sudden sounds like voices.

The Baseus App offers five ANC modes, so you can match the setting to your surroundings.

Sound and the LDAC codec

Baseus describes volume-adaptive Active EQ, which adjusts the sound balance as you change the volume. There are two sound profiles: SuperBass for stronger low end and SuperBalance for more detail.

The earbuds are Hi-Res certified and support LDAC, a codec that sends more audio data over Bluetooth than the standard SBC codec; Baseus says about three times as much. LDAC is mostly found on Android phones, and you need both a source that supports it and good-quality files or streaming to hear a difference.

Calls

Six microphones with AI noise reduction aim to keep your voice clear while reducing background noise on calls, according to Baseus.

Battery life

Baseus gives these figures:

  • ANC off: up to 12 hours per charge, and 55 hours with the case.
  • ANC on: about 7 hours per charge, and 36 hours in total.
  • A 10-minute fast charge adds 2.5 hours of music.

Turning ANC on shortens playtime, as it does on most earbuds, and real results vary with volume and codec.

Water and dust resistance

The IP55 code means protection against dust ingress and against water jets. It suits workouts, commutes and rain, but it does not mean the earbuds can be submerged. Wiping them dry before putting them in the case is general good practice.

Who they suit

They suit commuters, travellers and office workers who want noise reduction in a small package, and Android users who want to use LDAC. The weight of the earbuds and case together is listed at about 0.2 lb.

What to check before you buy

  • Codec support: check whether your phone supports LDAC. Without it, the earbuds fall back to a standard codec.
  • Fit: earbud fit and comfort differ from one ear to another, so check which ear tip sizes are included and whether there is a return option.
  • App: the five ANC modes and the EQ features are set in the Baseus App, so confirm it works with your phone.
  • Battery: the longer figures are with ANC off, so check the numbers that match how you listen.
  • Calls: consider where you take calls, since microphone performance depends on the environment.
  • Ear safety: keep volume at a comfortable level, as with any earphones.
