The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro (model D1203) is a pair of true wireless earbuds with active noise cancelling, built around clear calls, personalised sound and voice control. They are designed for commuting, travelling and working in noisy places.

Noise cancelling and the chip behind it

Active noise cancelling uses microphones to pick up outside sound and generates an opposing signal to reduce it. Soundcore says the Liberty 5 Pro uses 8 sensors and its Thus AI Chip, processing more than 384,000 noise signals a second, and that its cancelling is "100% more effective" than the previous flagship model. That comparison is the brand's own, based on its internal testing.

In general, ANC works best on steady, low-pitched noise such as trains, planes and office air conditioning, and less on sharp sounds.

Calls in noisy places

Calls use a 10-sensor matrix: 8 microphones and 2 bone-conduction sensors. Bone conduction picks up vibrations from your voice through the skull, which helps separate you from the background. Soundcore says this keeps speech clear in environments above 100 dB, or in quiet rooms. Call quality still depends on your phone, the network and how the earbuds fit.

Battery and charging

With ANC on, Soundcore quotes up to 6.5 hours of playtime, or up to 28 hours with the charging case. A five-minute charge is rated at 4 hours of listening. The listing adds that in Extreme mode, with several features enabled, life drops to 2.5 hours, or 10.5 hours with the case. These figures come from the brand's internal testing, and volume and settings change them.

Personalised sound

HearID 5.0 builds a personalised EQ profile, and an AI Audio Enhancer adjusts the sound further. The free soundcore app also offers EQ modes, Spatial Audio, adjustable ANC settings and over-the-air firmware updates. Personalised profiles take a short in-app listening test, and results vary from person to person.

Voice control

Twenty built-in voice commands let you skip tracks, answer calls and change volume. The listing says processing happens offline, so commands work without lag or a connection to the phone's assistant. Voice commands are useful when your hands are full.

Size and weight

The case measures 2.4 x 2.4 x 1.1 inches, and the whole package weighs 0.1 lb (roughly 45 g), small enough for a pocket. The listing places the earbuds in a sleep-earbud category, but check the manual for how they're meant to be worn and whether they suit lying down.

Who it suits

They suit commuters, travellers, people who spend a lot of time on calls, and anyone who wants listening profiles tuned to their ears. If you want long listening sessions without a charging case nearby, the quoted 6.5 hours is worth comparing with your day.

What to check before you buy

  • Fit: earbuds need a good seal for ANC to work, so check the ear tip sizes.
  • Phone compatibility: confirm your phone works with the soundcore app and Bluetooth version.
  • Battery in practice: extreme mode and heavy features shorten run time.
  • Awareness: ANC reduces traffic noise, so take care outdoors.
  • Upkeep: earbuds and cases need cleaning, and the app delivers updates.
