The MSI MPG A750GF is a 750-watt ATX power supply for desktop PCs. It is 80 PLUS Gold certified and fully modular, which means you plug in only the cables your build needs. It is aimed at gaming and similar systems that pair a capable graphics card with a modern processor.
What 80 PLUS Gold means
A power supply converts the alternating current from the wall into the direct current a PC uses, and some energy is lost as heat in the process. The 80 PLUS programme tests how much is lost at set loads. MSI lists the A750GF at 80 PLUS Gold, with efficiency of up to 90%. In general, a more efficient unit wastes less electricity and produces less heat inside the case, which can let the fan run more slowly.
Fully modular cabling
Every cable on this unit detaches from the PSU body. MSI says this lets you choose the connectors you use, cut clutter and improve airflow. The cables are flat and black, and MSI includes a bag to hold the ones you leave out. Flat cables are typically easier to bend around corners and tuck behind a motherboard tray than round sleeved ones.
The listing gives the connector count as one ATX, six PCI-e, eight SATA, two EPS and five Molex. Check this against your parts list before you commit.
Power for modern graphics cards
MSI points to three 6+2 pin PCI-e connectors for current NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 and 30 series cards and AMD graphics cards with higher power needs. The 6+2 design means each connector can work as a 6-pin or an 8-pin plug, so one cable fits both types of card. Many mid-range and high-end cards use one to three of these connectors, so it is worth confirming what your card requires.
Fan and components
The 140mm fan uses a fluid dynamic bearing, which MSI describes as quiet and stable. These bearings typically run more smoothly and last longer than plain sleeve designs. Inside, MSI uses Japanese 105°C capacitors, a half-bridge LLC design with a DC-DC converter and active power factor correction. The brand lists protections against over-current, over-voltage, over-power, over-temperature, short circuit and under-voltage conditions.
Size and warranty
The unit measures about 6.3 x 5.9 x 3.4 inches (roughly 160 x 150 x 86 mm) and weighs 4.2 lb (about 1.9 kg). MSI says that suits most PC cases and leaves room for cable management and airflow. It carries a 10-year limited warranty from MSI.
Who it suits
It fits builders who want a 750W Gold unit with detachable cables for a mid-range or high-end gaming build. If you plan to run several power-hungry components, add up their rated draw and leave some headroom.
What to check before you buy
- Your graphics card's power connectors and recommended PSU wattage, including whether it needs a newer 12-pin or 16-pin plug that this model's listing does not mention.
- That your case takes a standard ATX power supply of about 160 mm in length.
- The number of SATA, Molex and EPS connectors against your drives and motherboard.
- The plug type. The listing names an EU plug, so confirm it matches your region's sockets or cable.
- Which cables are in the box, and keep the cable bag for spares.
