The Lian Li EDGE 1000W (model EG1000G.BH) is a fully modular ATX power supply for desktop PCs. It is rated at 1000 watts, follows the ATX 3.1 standard, includes a 12V-2x6 cable for current NVIDIA graphics cards, and comes with a small hub for fans and USB devices. Its L-shaped body and black finish are aimed at tidy, high-performance builds.

ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1

ATX 3.1 is an update to the power supply specification. Lian Li says compliance supports PCIe 5.1 and gives enhanced resistance to transient power spikes. Modern graphics cards can briefly draw far more than their average power, and a supply designed for the newer standard is built to handle those short surges without shutting down or becoming unstable.

The 12V-2x6 connector

Lian Li describes the unit as ready for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 and 40 Series cards through its 12V-2x6 connector. This is the single high-power cable used by many recent graphics cards, replacing several 8-pin connectors. The 12V-2x6 is the revised version of the earlier 12VHPWR. Lian Li also mentions dual 8-pin to 12VHPWR connectors for broader compatibility, though that statement appears under the EG1200G in the listing, so check what is in the box for the 1000W model.

Fully modular cabling

Fully modular means every cable detaches from the unit, so you plug in only what your build uses. That generally makes cable routing neater, improves airflow and makes later upgrades simpler.

Efficiency and noise

The supply carries 80 PLUS Gold and Cybenetics Gold efficiency certifications. In general, a higher efficiency level means less energy wasted as heat for a given load, which in turn lets the fan run more slowly. Lian Li describes the unit as low noise, with efficiency that does not come at the cost of distracting sound.

The EDGE USB/fan hub

The supply comes with an EDGE Hub module. Lian Li says it supports four devices and up to eight downstream connections, which suits RGB controllers. It has six 4-pin connectors, each rated for 2A, and Lian Li says it is designed to work with any case, power supply or motherboard. For builds with many fans, this can reduce the number of headers needed on the motherboard.

Magnetic dust filter

A magnetic dust filter mesh covers the front of the unit and can be removed easily for cleaning. Lian Li says the mesh preserves the structural safety of the power supply while keeping fan operation quiet. Dust is a common problem in PCs, so a filter that comes off without tools helps with upkeep.

Size

The unit measures about 7.2 x 3.4 x 5.9 inches. That is deeper than the shortest ATX models, so check the case's power supply space.

What to check before you buy

  • Wattage: confirm that 1000W suits your processor and graphics card, using their listed requirements.
  • Case fit: check that your case accepts a standard ATX supply of this size and that cables will reach.
  • Graphics card connector: confirm whether your card uses 12V-2x6, 12VHPWR or 8-pin power, and what cables are in the box.
  • Hub use: check that your RGB or fan devices work with the hub's connectors and its 2A limit per connector.
  • Installation: switch off and unplug the mains supply before fitting, and follow the manual and local electrical guidance.
