The GMKtec NucBox M7 is a small desktop computer built around an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H processor. It measures 4.8 in x 4.4 in x 1.7 in, so it fits behind a monitor or on a shelf, yet it offers dual USB4, OCuLink, HDMI 2.1 and two 2.5G network ports. The listing describes it with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Processor and graphics
The Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H has eight cores and 16 threads, with boost speeds of up to 4.7 GHz. Graphics come from the integrated Radeon 680M with 12 cores. GMKtec says its performance is close to that of a GTX 1050 Ti and that FSR 3.0 support helps with games. Integrated graphics like this typically handle everyday work, video and lighter or older games well, while demanding titles need lower settings.
Memory and storage
The M7 comes with 16GB of DDR5-4800 in dual channel (2 x 8GB) and can be expanded to 96GB. Storage is a 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 SSD, with two slots that GMKtec says support up to two PCIe 4.0 2TB drives, 4TB in total. Upgrades are not included.
Displays, USB4 and OCuLink
GMKtec lists four simultaneous displays. The HDMI 2.1 port can output up to 8K at 60Hz, and the USB-C DisplayPort outputs can drive monitors up to 4K at 144Hz. USB4 ports are typically fast data and video connections as well.
OCuLink is a port that links an external graphics card (eGPU) at PCIe x4 speed. GMKtec notes that this is wider than the x3 it cites for Thunderbolt, which can mean better frame rates for gamers and creators who add a dock. The dock itself is separate.
Cooling and performance modes
The "Hyper Ice Chamber 2.0" design uses a top and a bottom fan with a copper base. GMKtec says noise drops to 35dB in Quiet mode. Three BIOS power modes are listed: Quiet at 35W, Balance at 50W and Performance at 65–70W. VRAM allocation, auto power-on and Wake-on-LAN are also mentioned.
Networking
Two Intel i226V 2.5Gbps ports, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are listed. Dual LAN is useful for projects such as a firewall, soft router or file server.
Warranty
GMKtec offers a one-year limited warranty covering defects in design and workmanship.
What to check before you buy
- Confirm the configuration, memory and operating system you receive match what you need.
- Check your monitors' inputs: HDMI 2.1 and USB-C DisplayPort cables may be needed.
- If you plan an eGPU, check dock compatibility separately, as OCuLink docks and graphics cards are not included.
- Consider where the fans will sit and how much noise suits your room.
- Check for a free M.2 slot and RAM compatibility before buying upgrades.
- Check what ports you need; a mini PC has fewer than a tower.
