The GMKtec NucBox K6 is a small desktop PC built around the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor. At 5.2 in x 4.9 in x 2.3 in and 3.5 lb, it is easy to place on a desk or behind a screen. The listing describes it with 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Processor and graphics
The Ryzen 7 7840HS has eight cores and 16 threads, with boost speeds of up to 5.1 GHz. Its integrated Radeon 780M graphics use AMD's RDNA 3 architecture and have 12 cores. GMKtec says performance is close to that of a GTX 1650 Ti, and that FSR 2.0 support helps with games. Integrated graphics like this typically suit everyday work, video, multitasking and lighter games.
Memory and storage
The K6 is listed with 16GB of DDR5-5600 in a single module and can be expanded to 64GB. Storage is a 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD, and a second slot allows up to two 2TB PCIe 4.0 drives, 4TB in total. Upgrades are not included. A single memory module means it runs in single channel until a second module is added, which typically gives more memory bandwidth for graphics.
USB4 and displays
USB4 supports transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps and 8K at 60Hz video output, and GMKtec says it is compatible with Thunderbolt accessories. It also says USB4 can connect a discrete graphics card and power a 15W portable touch display. With HDMI and USB-C DisplayPort outputs, the PC can drive three 4K screens at once.
Networking
The K6 has two 2.5Gbps LAN ports, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. WiFi 6E adds the 6 GHz band to 2.4 and 5 GHz, which can be less crowded if your router supports it. The dual LAN ports suit roles such as a firewall, soft router, multichannel aggregation or file server.
Uses
GMKtec suggests games, image editing, browsing, films and programming. It is a general-purpose desktop in a small form.
Warranty
GMKtec offers a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase, covering defects in design and workmanship.
What to check before you buy
- Confirm which operating system, if any, comes installed; the listing title doesn't state one.
- Check that your displays have inputs that match HDMI and USB-C DisplayPort.
- If you plan to use an external GPU over USB4, check the enclosure's compatibility.
- Consider adding a second memory module if you want dual-channel memory.
- Check the physical size fits your desk setup, and that you have the cables you need.
- A mini PC has fewer ports than a tower; list what you need to plug in.
