The GMKtec M7 is a small-form-factor computer built around the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H, with 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 512GB SSD. It packs USB4, an OCuLink port, HDMI 2.1 and two 2.5G network ports into a metal case, which makes it a flexible base for a compact workstation, a light gaming setup or a small home server.
The processor and integrated graphics
The Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H has eight cores and 16 threads, with a boost speed of up to 4.7GHz. It is paired with integrated AMD Radeon 680M graphics with 12 compute units. GMKtec says the graphics performance is close to that of an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti and that FSR 3.0 support helps with demanding games. As a general rule, integrated graphics of this class handle esports titles and older games at moderate settings, while the newest games may need lowered detail.
Memory and storage
The listing gives 32GB of DDR5-4800 in a dual-channel pair of 16GB modules, with support for expansion to 128GB. Storage is a 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 SSD, and the two drive slots can take PCIe 4.0 SSDs of up to 2TB each, for 4TB in total. GMKtec notes that upgrades are not included.
Display outputs
The M7 has two USB4 ports with video output and an HDMI 2.1 port. GMKtec says HDMI can output up to 8K at 60Hz, and the USB-C DisplayPort output can drive a 4K monitor at 144Hz. Together they allow four screens at once, which suits multi-monitor desks.
OCuLink for an external graphics card
OCuLink is a port that carries PCIe signals out of the machine. GMKtec says it runs at PCIe x4 speeds, compared with x3 for Thunderbolt in the brand's comparison. People typically use it to attach an external graphics card enclosure, which can lift gaming and creative performance well beyond integrated graphics. The enclosure and card are separate purchases.
Cooling and performance modes
GMKtec's Hyper Ice Chamber 2.0 cooling design uses a top and a bottom fan, with a copper base on the lower one. The brand quotes fan noise of 35dB in Quiet mode. The BIOS offers three power modes: Quiet at 35W, Balance at 50W and Performance at 65W to 70W. Higher power means more speed but also more heat and fan noise.
Networking
Two Intel i226-V 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are fitted. The dual ports allow uses such as a firewall, soft router, link aggregation or file server. Wake-on-LAN and Auto Power On are listed too.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a compact desktop with plenty of memory and ports, such as multi-monitor workers, home-lab and networking fans, and gamers who may add an external graphics card later.
What to check before you buy
- Displays: confirm your monitors' inputs and any cables or adapters needed for USB4 or HDMI 2.1.
- Eventual upgrades: check the manual for supported memory and SSD types before expanding.
- External graphics: OCuLink needs a compatible enclosure, graphics card and power supply.
- Noise and heat: higher performance modes raise fan noise; leave space around the case.
- Operating system: confirm what is installed and how it is licensed.
- Warranty: GMKtec states a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase.
