The GMKtec K11 is a small desktop computer, about 5.2 x 4.9 x 2.3 inches (13 x 12.4 x 5.8 cm), built around an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor. It is designed for people who want a capable desktop for work, gaming or content creation without a full tower, and it includes an Oculink port for connecting an external graphics card.
The processor and power modes
The Ryzen 9 8945HS has 8 cores and 16 threads, and GMKtec gives its boost speed as up to 5.4 GHz (the listing title says 5.2 GHz). It is a laptop-class chip, rated at a 35W TDP that GMKtec says can be raised to 70W. A higher power limit typically allows higher sustained speeds, at the cost of more heat and fan noise.
The updated UEFI (BIOS) offers three performance modes: Quiet at 35W, Balance at 54W and Performance at 65W. It also allows video memory allocation, auto power-on and Wake-on-LAN. GMKtec says the fan noise is lowered to 35 dB in Quiet mode.
Memory and storage
The K11 uses DDR5 memory at 5600 MT/s in dual-channel. The listing describes 32GB as fitted and expandable to 64GB, while the title mentions 64GB, so confirm which configuration you are getting. Storage is a 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD, and there are two PCIe Gen4 x4 slots that GMKtec says can be expanded up to 8TB.
What the Oculink port is for
Oculink is a connection that carries PCIe lanes over a cable, most often to an external graphics card dock. GMKtec says it uses PCIe x4, compared with the x3 it quotes for Thunderbolt, so it can offer more bandwidth and lower overhead. In general, this matters for people who want the small size of a mini PC but the option of a desktop graphics card later. An eGPU dock and graphics card are bought separately.
Display and connectivity
The K11 supports four simultaneous 4K displays, through HDMI 2.1 (4K at 60Hz), DisplayPort 2.1 (4K at 60Hz) and two USB4 ports (up to 40Gb/s). Networking includes dual Intel i226V 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. GMKtec points to uses such as a firewall, soft router or file server for the dual LAN design.
Cooling
GMKtec calls the cooling design Hyper Ice Chamber 2.0, with larger top and bottom fans and a copper base. Mini PCs are tightly packed, so airflow matters, and sustained loads will be louder in the higher power modes.
Who it suits
It suits desk setups where space is tight, home-office and multi-monitor work, light gaming, and home-lab tasks such as routing or file serving. People who want a high-end graphics card inside the case will find a mini PC limiting without an external dock.
What to check before you buy
- Configuration: confirm the RAM and storage that ship with it, as the listing gives both 32GB and 64GB.
- Operating system: check what, if anything, is pre-installed.
- Oculink: if you want an eGPU, check the dock's compatibility and its power supply needs.
- Monitors: match your displays to the available HDMI, DisplayPort and USB4 outputs, and use suitable cables.
- Noise: think about where it sits and which power mode you will use.
- Warranty: GMKtec lists a 1-year limited warranty.
