The GMKtec G3 Plus is a small desktop computer built around Intel's Twin Lake N150 processor. It arrives with 16GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive already fitted, and it is aimed at everyday computing: office work, browsing, streaming and light server duties. Because it is far smaller than a tower, it suits desks, living-room setups and shelves where space is tight.

What the Intel N150 brings

The N150 is a four-core, four-thread chip with 6MB of cache and a burst speed of up to 3.6GHz, according to GMKtec. The brand describes it as an upgrade on the Alder Lake N100, with an overall performance gain of 6% to 10%. Chips in this family are designed for low power draw rather than heavy workloads, so they typically handle web apps, documents, video calls and media playback comfortably, while video editing, large spreadsheets or modern games are not what they are built for.

Memory and storage

The G3 Plus comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB PCIe 3.0 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD. For a machine of this type, 16GB leaves room for a good number of browser tabs next to office software. NVMe storage is much quicker than older SATA drives and the brand says the PC starts up in seconds. The M.2 2280 label describes the physical size of the drive, which matters if you ever plan to swap it.

Ports and display support

GMKtec lists four USB 3.2 ports rated at up to 5Gbps, two HDMI 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, Gigabit-class wired networking and Bluetooth 5.2. Both HDMI ports can drive a 4K display at 60Hz, so a dual-monitor desk is possible, or one screen plus a projector or television. The integrated Intel graphics support 4K video playback and AV1 decoding, a modern video format used by many streaming services.

Networking and server use

The wired port is an Intel i226-V 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection, which GMKtec describes as up to 2.5 times faster than standard gigabit. Wireless is WiFi 6 (802.11ax), listed at up to 600Mbps. The brand also lists Wake On LAN, PXE Boot, RTC Wake and Auto Power On, features commonly used when a small PC runs as a home server. GMKtec names Linux, Proxmox, firewall software, Ubuntu and ESXi as compatible, and the listing also mentions Windows 11 Pro support.

Who it suits

It suits people who want a quiet, compact computer for office tasks, home entertainment or a small home lab. It is less suited to demanding creative work or gaming, where a processor with more cores and a stronger graphics chip would be the usual route.

What to check before you buy

  • Workload: confirm that four cores and integrated graphics cover the software you use.
  • Displays: check that your monitors have HDMI inputs, or that you have the right adapters.
  • Operating system: confirm which operating system is installed and how it is licensed.
  • Network: a 2.5GbE port only runs at full speed with a matching router or switch.
  • Upgrades and parts: check the manual for how to open the case and which memory and drives it accepts.
  • What's in the box: confirm the power adapter and cables included.
  • Warranty: GMKtec states a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase.
