The Corsair HX1000i (model CP-9020259-NA) is a fully modular ATX power supply from Corsair's HXi series. It is built around the newer ATX 3.1 standard and PCIe 5.1 graphics power, with a quiet fan and software control. Here is what those terms mean and what to check before fitting one.
ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1
ATX 3.1 is Intel's power supply design standard. Corsair says the unit is certified to it and supports the PCIe Gen 5.1 platform, including the ability to withstand transient power spikes. Modern graphics cards can briefly draw well above their average power, and the newer standards set requirements for how a supply handles that.
For most builders, the practical point is the graphics connector. PCIe 5.x-era cards typically use a 12-volt high-power connector, and a supply built for the standard is designed to provide that connection. Check the cables supplied against your card.
80 Plus Platinum efficiency
The listing describes the efficiency as 80 Plus Platinum. That certification measures how much wall power reaches the components rather than being lost as heat. Platinum is a high tier, and in general it means less waste heat and a lower power draw for the same output.
Fully modular cabling
All cables detach from the unit, so you connect only those your system uses. Corsair says this makes clean and tidy builds easy. Fewer cables in the case also helps airflow around components.
Fan, Zero RPM mode and noise
The fan is 140mm with a fluid dynamic bearing (FDB), which Corsair says delivers extremely quiet and long-lasting performance. FDB fans use a thin film of lubricant rather than ball bearings, and they typically run quietly.
Zero RPM mode switches the fan off entirely at low and medium loads, for near-silent operation, according to Corsair. The fan then starts when the load rises. Some builders prefer this for quiet office and media machines.
iCUE software control
The HXi series is a digital platform, and with Corsair iCUE software you can create custom fan curves, monitor power settings, and toggle between single and multi-rail overcurrent protection (OCP) on the fly. Single-rail and multi-rail OCP are different ways of limiting current on the 12V outputs. Most builders can leave this at the default, so read the manual before changing it.
Components and warranty
Corsair describes Japanese 105°C-rated electrolytic capacitors for long life and reliability, a ten-year warranty and Modern Standby sleep mode support, which can wake a PC faster and use less power while asleep. Its description also mentions ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compliance, while the product title and features list ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1.
Size
The listing gives about 7.1 x 5.9 x 3.4 inches (roughly 18 x 15 x 8.6 cm) and a weight of 4.4 lb (about 2 kg).
Who it suits
It suits builders of modern gaming and creative PCs with a recent high-power graphics card, and people who care about low noise and tidy cabling. The software control adds appeal for those who like to monitor and tune.
What to check before you buy
- Power need: the model name suggests a 1,000-watt class, but confirm the exact output figure on Corsair's specification sheet.
- Graphics connector: make sure the included cables suit your graphics card.
- Case fit: confirm your case takes a standard ATX unit of this size.
- Software: iCUE control needs a compatible connection to the PC, as the manual describes.
- Fan behaviour: decide whether Zero RPM mode suits how you use the PC.
- Warranty: read the terms of the ten-year warranty.
