The Blackview W60 is a rugged smartwatch aimed at outdoor use. It combines an aluminium alloy frame, a 2.01-inch touchscreen, an LED flashlight and a compass with Bluetooth calling and fitness tracking. Blackview also sells it under the name Military Smart Watch M1 Pro, and it works with both Android and iPhone.

Battery life

The W60 has a 900mAh battery, which Blackview says is about five times that of traditional smartwatches. The brand quotes up to 100 days of standby and 30 days of daily use. Real-world results depend on settings such as screen brightness, call use and how often notifications arrive, so those figures are best read as upper limits. A long-life battery is useful on multi-day trips where carrying chargers is awkward.

Built for the outdoors

Blackview says the aluminium alloy frame passed 12 military tests, and the watch is rated IP68 for water and dust. The listing notes it is not intended for saunas, hot water, swimming or diving. The tools include:

  • LED flashlight: Blackview gives a lighting range of 6 to 10 metres.
  • Compass: described as magnetically resistant, for outdoor navigation.
  • Two straps: one silicone and one nylon, both adjustable. The nylon option is offered for people with sensitive skin.

Screen and watch faces

The display is a 2.01-inch TFT colour touchscreen. A new split-screen quick menu updates in real time to follow your latest activity. You can choose from online watch faces or make your own using a photo from your phone.

Calls, notifications and voice assistant

With Bluetooth connected, the watch's speaker and microphone let you answer or make calls from your wrist. The GloryFitPro companion app keeps contacts on the watch. It also shows notifications from apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, and supports music and camera control. Blackview lists an AI voice assistant for requests like the weather, calls and alarms. It is compatible with most phones running Android 6.0 or iOS 9.0 and above.

Fitness and health tracking

The watch offers more than 100 sports modes, including running, cycling, walking, climbing, yoga and skiing. It tracks steps, distance, time and calories, and uses your phone's GPS to record routes through the app. Its optical sensors record heart rate, blood oxygen, stress levels and sleep stages. Blackview states plainly that the watch cannot be used as a medical diagnostic tool, so treat the readings as general wellness information.

Other tools

Sedentary reminders, an alarm clock, stopwatch, timer, weather forecast and other daily functions are included.

Who it suits

It suits hikers, campers and workers who want a durable watch with a flashlight and compass, as well as people who dislike charging a wearable every few days. It is less suited to swimmers and anyone wanting independent GPS without a phone, since route recording relies on the phone's GPS.

What to check before you buy

  • Phone compatibility: confirm your phone runs Android 6.0 or iOS 9.0 or newer.
  • Water use: the IP68 water protection excludes hot water, swimming and diving.
  • Size: a rugged case with a 2.01-inch screen is large, so consider your wrist.
  • Calling: calls go through Bluetooth, so your phone needs to be nearby.
  • App: the GloryFitPro app is needed for setup and data.
  • Straps: both straps are included; check which suits you.
