The Blackview MP80 is a very small desktop computer built around Intel's N95 processor. This version pairs it with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 512GB M.2 SSD, and offers three HDMI outputs, two network ports and dual-band WiFi. It is meant for office work, online learning, video playback and similar everyday tasks.

What the N95 offers

Blackview lists the processor as a 12th-generation Intel Alder Lake N95 with four cores and four threads, 6MB of cache, a top speed of 3.4GHz and a 15W TDP. TDP is a rough guide to power draw and heat, so a 15W part typically runs cool and quietly in a small case. Blackview says performance is up to 30% higher than the N100, N5105 and N5095 chips.

Four cores handle web browsing, documents, streaming and video calls comfortably. Heavy rendering, large compilations or modern 3D games are better suited to a more powerful machine.

LPDDR5 memory and the M.2 SSD

LPDDR5 is a low-power memory type commonly soldered onto the board in compact devices. Blackview lists 4800MHz speed, which it says is about 35% faster than DDR4 with 25% lower power use. Because it is typically fixed to the board, it is wise to treat the 16GB as the amount you will have for the life of the machine.

The 512GB M.2 SSD loads the system and programs far faster than a hard disk would. It holds a good amount of documents, photos and applications; larger media libraries may need external storage.

Three screens and a full port set

The MP80 can output 4K at 60Hz, and Blackview says its three HDMI ports let you connect three screens at once. The company lists eleven ports in total: three USB 3.0, three HDMI, two Gigabit Ethernet, a 3.5mm headset jack, a DC jack and a power connection. Dual Ethernet suits networks that need two separate connections.

Wireless and cooling

Dual-band WiFi covers 2.4GHz at up to 450Mbps and 5GHz at up to 1300Mbps, as Blackview quotes them. Real-world speeds depend on your router and your home. Blackview also describes a four-in-one cooling and noise-reduction system. Small fans in compact cases vary in loudness, so check the manual on placement and airflow.

Mounting

A VESA bracket is included, so the PC can be fixed behind a monitor or on a wall, keeping the desk clear. The weight is listed as 0.5 lb.

Who it suits

It suits home offices, students, shared family computers and anyone who wants a compact machine for a TV or second monitor. The multiple video outputs make it handy for people who like several windows open at once.

What to check before you buy

  • Operating system: confirm what is pre-installed, as the listing does not say.
  • Peripherals: a keyboard, mouse and display are needed.
  • Workload: check that a four-core, low-power chip matches your software.
  • Cables: confirm your displays use HDMI.
  • Warranty: Blackview mentions two years and technical support; read the terms.
  • Upgrades: with soldered memory, plan on the RAM you buy being final.
