The Baseus Spacemate is an 11-in-1 USB-C docking station that turns one cable from your laptop into a full desk setup: up to three external displays, wired network, fast USB ports, audio and charging. It stands upright instead of lying flat, so it takes up little desk space.
What the 11 ports are
Baseus lists two HDMI ports, two DisplayPort connectors, one USB-C port and two USB-A ports that carry data at 10Gbps, a USB-A 2.0 port, a 100W USB-C power delivery input, Gigabit Ethernet and a 3.5mm audio jack. The laptop connects to the dock through a cable about 80 cm long.
Triple displays, with a macOS limit
Baseus says the dock can drive three monitors at 4K through its HDMI and DisplayPort outputs on Windows. That suits work that spreads across several windows, such as spreadsheets beside email beside a video call.
There is an important note in the listing: macOS does not support triple-display mode with this dock. On a Mac, it can extend only one display. Resolution and refresh rate also depend on your laptop's USB-C or Thunderbolt port and graphics hardware, so check what your laptop supports with several screens connected at once.
10Gbps data ports
The USB-C port and two USB-A ports use USB 3.2 Gen 2, rated at 10Gbps. That is a theoretical maximum, and real transfers depend on the drive and the files. Baseus says a 20GB file can move in about 20 seconds, a best-case figure that needs fast storage at both ends. The extra USB 2.0 port is slower, and is a sensible place for a mouse, keyboard or dongle.
Charging through the dock
The dock accepts up to 100W through its USB-C PD input and passes up to 85W through to the laptop. Baseus recommends a 65W or higher adapter, and a 100W adapter when the dock is fully loaded with devices. The power adapter and input cable are not included, so you need to supply your own.
Design details
The body is aluminium with a magnetic base. An LED digital screen shows the connection status of each port, and a screen-lock button lets you lock the computer's screen quickly when you step away. The package contains the dock and an instruction manual.
Who it suits
It suits people with a Windows laptop that has only one or two ports and who want a multi-monitor desk, a wired network connection and extra USB ports. Baseus lists compatibility with Windows, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer and Mac laptops, subject to the display limit above.
What to check before you buy
- Your laptop's USB-C port: it needs to support video output over USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt) for the displays to work.
- Operating system: on macOS, expect one extended display, not three.
- Monitors and cables: confirm your monitors have HDMI or DisplayPort inputs and that you have the right cables.
- Power adapter: have a suitable 65W to 100W USB-C charger on hand, since none is included.
- Desk space and cable length: check that the 80 cm cable reaches your laptop's port.
- Heat: docks with many ports in a compact body can get warm; follow the manual on placement.
