The ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 is a tri-band WiFi 7 mesh router. This single unit is rated to cover up to 3,000 sq ft (about 280 square metres), and more units can be added through ASUS's AiMesh system. It targets larger homes with many connected devices and fast internet connections.
What WiFi 7 adds
WiFi 7 (802.11be) builds on WiFi 6 and 6E. ASUS lists three headline features. 6GHz support gives access to the less crowded 6GHz band. MLO (Multi-Link Operation) lets a compatible device use more than one band at once, which can improve speed and reliability. 4K-QAM packs more data into each transmission. ASUS rates the total at up to 18 Gbps across its three bands. That is a combined theoretical figure; no single device will reach it, and real speeds depend on your devices, distance and walls. To use WiFi 7, a device needs WiFi 7 hardware as well. Older devices still connect.
Coverage hardware
The BT10 has eight internal antennas and ten high-power front-end modules, which ASUS says reduce dead zones. Tri-band means three radio bands. In mesh setups, a dedicated band can carry traffic between units, though the listing doesn't describe how this model allocates its bands.
Dual 10G ports
The listing names dual 10G ports. These allow wired connections faster than standard Gigabit Ethernet, which suits very fast internet plans, a network-attached storage device or a workstation. The listing doesn't say which ports are WAN or LAN, so check the manual and the port count for your wired devices. 10G only helps if the devices and cables at the other end support it.
Security, VPN and parental controls
ASUS includes AiProtection Pro, which it calls commercial-grade, 24/7 end-to-end protection, along with advanced VPN options and parental controls. The Smart Home Master Network lets you set up to three SSIDs (network names), for example one for IoT devices and others for parental controls. Keeping smart-home gadgets on their own network is a common way to keep them apart from computers and phones.
4G and 5G tethering
The router supports 4G and 5G mobile tethering, meaning a compatible phone can supply internet as a backup or main connection. Check the manual for which phones and connection methods are supported.
Size
The unit is about 2.8 x 7.3 x 6.3 inches and weighs about 1.9 lb.
Who it suits
It suits larger or multi-storey homes with many devices, households with fast internet plans, and people with WiFi 7 phones or laptops or wired 10G equipment. It is more than most small apartments need.
What to check before you buy
- Internet plan and modem: check that your connection can use the speeds, and whether you need a separate modem.
- Devices: confirm which of your devices support WiFi 6E or WiFi 7.
- Home size: one unit is rated to 3,000 sq ft; larger or awkward layouts may need a second.
- Wired gear: check cables and devices if you plan to use the 10G ports.
- Placement: follow the manual on positioning and setup.
- Updates: keep firmware current and set a strong admin password.
