The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is a dual-band WiFi 6 router from the Republic of Gamers line, styled after the EVA-01 from the Evangelion project. Under the themed look it is a performance router built to keep game traffic moving quickly, with two 2.5G network ports and a quad-core processor.
What WiFi 6 and "6000 Mbps" mean
WiFi 6 (802.11ax) is a wireless standard designed to handle many devices at once more efficiently than older versions. ASUS says this router reaches speeds up to 6000 Mbps across its two bands and supports 160 MHz channels. Wider channels carry more data, but the figure is a combined, theoretical maximum. A single device will not see 6000 Mbps, and ASUS itself notes that real throughput and coverage depend on network traffic, building materials and construction.
Dual 2.5G ports
Many routers still stop at gigabit (1G) wired ports. This model has two 2.5G ports that can be set up flexibly as WAN or LAN. According to ASUS, traffic through those ports gets top priority. That matters if your internet plan is faster than 1 Gbps, or if you have a PC or network storage that can use a 2.5G link. The listing also mentions WAN aggregation, which in general means combining two connections on the internet side, if your setup and provider support it.
Processor and game acceleration
ASUS fits a 2.0 GHz quad-core CPU. A stronger processor typically helps a router run several features at once, such as traffic prioritisation and security tools, without slowing the connection. The brand describes a triple-level game acceleration system that works on game traffic from the device through to the game server. It also lists a Mobile Game Mode, switched on with a tap in the ASUS Router app, aimed at reducing lag and latency for mobile gaming.
Mesh and security
The router is listed as AiMesh compatible. AiMesh lets compatible ASUS routers join into one network with a shared name, which can extend coverage in a larger home. ASUS also lists lifetime internet security; check the brand's site for exactly what that covers.
Size and placement
The router measures about 13.3 x 7.7 x 8.7 inches (roughly 34 x 20 x 22 cm) and weighs 2.5 lb (about 1.1 kg). Its antennas and size mean it sits best on a shelf or desk in an open, central spot rather than inside a cabinet.
What to check before you buy
- Your internet plan and modem: confirm whether you can use the 2.5G ports, and whether your provider allows a separate router.
- Your devices: WiFi 6 benefits need WiFi 6 clients, and older devices will connect at their own standard.
- Wired devices: check whether your PC or storage has a 2.5G port, otherwise it will link at 1G.
- Space: the router is fairly large, so measure the spot you have in mind.
- Mesh plans: if you want AiMesh, confirm the other routers are on ASUS's compatibility list.
- Real-world speed: expect results below the headline figures, as the brand notes.
The short version
- Dual-band WiFi 6 router rated by ASUS at up to 6000 Mbps, with 160 MHz channel support.
- Two 2.5G ports, flexibly assignable as WAN or LAN.
- 2.0 GHz quad-core CPU, triple-level game acceleration and a Mobile Game Mode.
- AiMesh compatible, with an Evangelion-inspired design.
