The ASUS NUC 15 Pro Slim (model RNUC15CRKU70000U) is a small barebones desktop computer. It measures roughly 4.6 x 4.4 x 1.5 inches (about 11.7 x 11.2 x 3.8 cm) and weighs 0.8 lb (about 0.36 kg). "Barebones" matters: it's the compact PC itself, and you supply the memory, storage and operating system.
What barebones means
A barebones kit gives you the case, motherboard, processor, cooling and power connections. ASUS describes "up to 96GB DDR5 RAM", dual-channel memory and a dual-storage design, so you choose the memory modules and drives. Before ordering parts, check the manual for the memory type and format, the supported drive sizes and which operating systems are supported. The tool-less chassis ("2.0") is meant to make opening it and fitting parts quick, without a screwdriver.
The processor and graphics
The NUC uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H from Intel's Series 2 range, with integrated Intel Arc 140T graphics. ASUS also notes NPU support for AI workloads. An NPU is a processor block designed for AI tasks such as background blur on video calls or local AI features, which can run more efficiently than on the main cores. Integrated graphics are fine for office work, video playback and light creative tasks, but they're not a replacement for a dedicated graphics card in demanding games.
Connectivity and displays
ASUS lists Wi-Fi 7 with "up to 2.4X faster transfer rates", Wi-Fi Proximity Sensing and Bluetooth 5.4. Wi-Fi 7 needs a compatible router to deliver its full benefit.
Wired connections include Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1. According to ASUS, you can connect up to four 4K displays through those ports. That suits people who want a large multi-monitor desk without a full-size tower. "Headless emulation" lets the PC behave as though a display is attached when none is, which helps when running it as a server. A sync power-off feature turns off the screen automatically to save energy.
Built for always-on use
The listing says the NUC is tested for 24/7 reliability and carries MIL-STD-810H certification. That standard covers environmental test methods such as vibration and temperature. ASUS also describes an advanced cooling system and eco-friendly packaging. For a computer that may sit on all day, low power draw and quiet cooling are useful, though noise levels depend on how hard it works.
VESA mount and placement
A VESA mount is included, so you can attach the NUC to the back of a compatible monitor or under a desk. That clears desk space and keeps cables short. Allow airflow around the case wherever you put it.
Who it suits
A mini PC like this suits home offices, small businesses, digital signage, a media centre, a home lab or anyone who wants a tidy desk. It's less suited to people who want a ready-to-use computer straight out of the box, because it needs parts and software installed first.
What to check before you buy
- Parts you need to add: memory, at least one drive and an operating system.
- Memory and drive compatibility: match the supported type, speed and size in the manual.
- Displays: confirm your monitors' inputs match HDMI 2.1 and Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C.
- Network: a Wi-Fi 7 router is needed for the fastest wireless speeds.
- Power adapter and cables: confirm what's in the box before ordering extras.
- Mounting: check that your monitor has a compatible VESA pattern.
