The Anker 760 Expansion Battery (model A1780) is an add-on battery, not a stand-alone power station. It holds 2048Wh and connects to a compatible Anker host unit to extend the time it can run devices. Anker lists it for the SOLIX F2000 and says it doubles the capacity of a PowerHouse 767, from 2048Wh to 4096Wh.
What an expansion battery does
A portable power station has a battery and an inverter with the ports. An expansion battery adds only more stored energy. The host provides the outlets and charging, and the extra battery lengthens runtime. In general, adding capacity does not raise how many watts the system can output at once, only how long it can keep going.
What 2048Wh means
Watt-hours measure stored energy. A 2048Wh battery could, in theory, run a 100W load for about 20 hours, though real runtimes are lower because of conversion losses and the load. Compared with the host, the pairing gives a total of 4096Wh, which Anker describes as double the power.
LiFePO4 chemistry and lifespan
The battery uses LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells. This chemistry is typically valued for long cycle life and thermal stability. Anker says its InfiniPower technology, together with these cells, is built to last over a decade of everyday use, and cites a 6× longer lifespan. Lifespan claims depend on how the unit is used and stored.
Build and protection
Anker describes a drop-proof unibody design, electronic components rated for 50,000 hours, and a ventilation grille for heat dissipation. A temperature control system is said to check temperature up to 100 times per second. A three-point protective clasp is described as safeguarding the battery and preventing leakage current while charging.
Warranty and what's in the box
Anker gives a five-year full-device warranty. The box holds the expansion battery, a user manual and a battery-to-host cable.
Size and weight
It measures 17.4 x 9.4 x 10.6 inches (about 44 x 24 x 27 cm) and weighs 45.6 lb (about 20.7 kg). That is heavy for lifting alone, so plan where it will sit.
Who it suits
It suits owners of a compatible Anker power station who want longer runtimes, for example for home backup, an off-grid cabin, or a long camping or work trip. It makes no sense without a compatible host.
What to check before you buy
- Compatibility: confirm your host model is on Anker's list, as the listing names the SOLIX F2000 and PowerHouse 767.
- Cable: the supplied battery-to-host cable is the intended connection; use only what the manual specifies.
- Weight and space: check you can lift and place about 45.6 lb and ventilate it.
- Your loads: add up the watts and hours of what you want to run.
- Charging time: a larger total capacity typically takes longer to recharge, so check the host's input speeds.
The short version
- A 2048Wh LiFePO4 expansion battery, not a stand-alone power station.
