The YOSUDA Under Desk Elliptical is a compact seated pedal exerciser. You sit at a desk, a table or in front of the television, put your feet on the pedals and move them in an elliptical motion. It comes fully assembled and has an electric auto mode and a manual resistance mode.

Two ways to use it

YOSUDA lists an auto mode, in which the motor turns the pedals for you, and a manual mode, in which you push the pedals against resistance, which you set from 1 to 10. Bidirectional movement means the pedals can turn forwards or backwards. Auto mode is the gentler option, because the motor does the moving. Manual mode gives you control over how hard you work.

Remote control

There are no complex programs. According to YOSUDA, you press a button on the remote control and start moving. The remote lets you change settings without bending down to the machine under the desk.

Quiet running

YOSUDA says the motor is a patented design with a long service life, and that the motion is quiet and smooth, so it won't distract you while you work, watch TV or read. Noise depends on the surface and the speed, so a mat or carpet underneath can help.

Size and portability

The unit measures 17 x 13 x 8.7 inches (about 43 x 33 x 22 cm), small enough to slide under many desks. No assembly is required. It's light to carry and easy to put away, so you can move it from room to room. The pedals are non-slip.

Who it suits

YOSUDA markets it to office workers who sit for long periods, and to seniors or people with limited mobility who want low-impact leg movement. If you have a medical condition, an injury or a recovery plan, ask your doctor or physiotherapist whether this kind of exercise is suitable and how long to use it.

Brand and support

YOSUDA says it has 20 years of experience in home exercise equipment and lists a month of free returns or refund, lifetime service and round-the-clock support. Read the full terms before you rely on them.

What to check before you buy

  • Desk clearance: measure the space under your desk, including knee room and the height of your chair, with your feet on the pedals.
  • Stability: place it on a non-slip surface or against a wall, so it doesn't slide.
  • Power: the electric mode needs a nearby outlet, or check the manual for the power arrangement.
  • Comfort: think about your seating position and the pedal travel. Check that your chair doesn't roll.
  • Noise and floor: consider the sound on hard floors, and use a mat if needed.
