The WYBOT A1 is a cordless robotic pool cleaner that moves along the pool floor and collects debris in a filter basket. WYBOT designed it for above-ground pools with flat floors. With no power cable to tangle, it is easy to drop in and lift out. This page covers what its specs mean.

Cordless operation and runtime

A cordless pool robot runs on a rechargeable battery, so there is no cable to float around or catch on ladders. WYBOT says the A1 runs for up to 120 minutes per charge and covers up to 1,076 square feet (about 100 square metres). The brand says that is a 50-100% increase over its previous models. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours, which WYBOT contrasts with the 6-7 hours of older designs.

Runtime in practice depends on pool shape, debris load and water conditions, so treat it as a guide.

Dual-layer filtration

The A1 has two filter layers: a 180 μm filter and a cotton foam layer. A micron (μm) is a millionth of a metre, so 180 μm filters out visible particles such as small leaves and sand, and the foam layer helps catch finer material. WYBOT says the combination raises filtration efficiency by 50%. As with any pool robot, the baskets need rinsing after a run, and clogged filters reduce performance.

Edge cleaning

Robots often struggle where the floor meets the wall. WYBOT says the A1 has a patented edge feature: it pauses for a few seconds on reaching a pool wall to clean that area more thoroughly. Results may vary with the pool's design, for example with coved or sharp edges.

Top interface

A top panel with five-colour LED lights shows the robot's status, such as charging, running or an alert. The lights are easy to read from the poolside, and the manual explains each colour.

Size and pool types

It measures about 16.0 x 13.5 x 7.8 inches (41 x 34 x 20 cm). WYBOT describes the A1 as ideal for above-ground flat pools. Pools with sloped floors, steps or walls to climb are not what this model is built for, so check the manual.

Who it suits

It suits owners of smaller above-ground pools who want a hands-off floor cleaner, and who prefer cordless handling over a tethered robot.

What to check before you buy

  • Pool type: confirm that your pool floor is flat and that you do not need wall or waterline cleaning.
  • Pool size: compare the 1,076 sq ft coverage to your pool.
  • Debris: heavy leaf fall may need frequent filter emptying.
  • Charging: check where you can charge it and keep it dry.
  • Retrieval: think about how you will lift it out, since a cordless robot has no cable to pull.
  • Water care: a robot removes debris but does not replace sanitising and chemistry, so follow your pool's guidance.
  • Upkeep: check the manual on cleaning filters and storage.
