The VEVOR WMCPS03 is a portable wood-burning stove for hot tents and outdoor camps. It heats a shelter and doubles as a cooking surface, and it is designed to pack down, with the chimney pipe and fire hook stored inside the stove body.
The firebox and fire control
The firebox holds 1,646 cubic inches (about 27 litres). A larger firebox typically means longer burns between refuelling, because more wood fits in at once. VEVOR says the stove heats quickly and does not need constant feeding.
For control, it has a damper and ventilation holes. In any wood stove, the damper and air inlets set how much air reaches the fire: more air burns hotter and faster, less air slows it. An integrated ashtray collects ash, which makes emptying the stove simpler.
Shelves for cooking and drying
Detachable shelves, each 7" x 20" (about 18 x 51 cm), give space for a pot or kettle. VEVOR says a heat conduction plate speeds up cooking. The side mesh racks are described as useful for drying clothes or holding utensils and tea sets. As with any stove, items near the surface get very hot, so keep that in mind when arranging them.
Build and finish
The panels are rust-resistant alloy steel, 3 mm (0.12 inch) thick, which VEVOR says resists deformation under heat and rough handling. The finish is a powder coating rated to 550 degrees, which the brand says removes odour during first heating and cooking. New stoves with coated finishes commonly give off some smell on first firing, so follow the manual's break-in advice.
Spark arrestor and grate
VEVOR lists three protective features: the powder coating, a spark arrestor, and a bottom fire grate. A spark arrestor is a mesh at the chimney outlet that catches embers. The grate lifts the fire off the base so that air can pass beneath it, and the listing says it helps prevent overheating.
What's in the set
Nine accessories are listed, including a shovel, a scraper and protective gloves, plus eight chimney pipes. The stove and accessories are described as weighing 54 lb in total, while the item weighs 23.1 lb on its own. Listed dimensions are 26.0 x 18.1 inches, and 103.0 inches tall with the chimney assembled (about 2.6 m). Assembly and disassembly are described as easy.
Who it suits
It suits campers with a hot tent, bell tent or canvas shelter that has a stove jack, and people who want a wood-fired cooking surface at a camp. It is less suited to anyone who needs a tightly regulated heat output.
What to check before you buy
- Your tent: confirm it has a stove jack or an approved opening, and that its fabric is rated for stove use.
- Chimney height: check that eight pipes reach above your tent's peak as the manual requires.
- Local rules: check campfire and stove regulations and any fire bans where you camp.
- Clearances: follow the manual on distances to fabric and other combustibles.
- Packed size: confirm it fits your pack or vehicle.
- Upkeep: plan for cooling, ash disposal and chimney cleaning.
