The VEVOR HS9222 is a 24-quart hard cooler for camping trips, picnics, fishing, road trips and outdoor events. It is a small to mid-size chest, light enough to carry when full, with a gasket-sealed lid and latches. This page explains what its numbers mean.
How much 24 quarts holds
Quarts measure the internal volume. VEVOR says the cooler holds up to 36 cans of 12 oz, while keeping food and drinks separated, and describes a rack that helps protect fruit and soft foods from being crushed. In practice, if you fill space with ice, you fit fewer cans. For a day out or an overnight trip for two to four people, this size is typical. For a longer trip or a larger group, a bigger chest is generally easier.
Three-layer insulation
The walls have three layers: a PE outer shell, a PP inner liner and a 1.2 inch (30 mm) layer of PU foam between them. Polyurethane foam is a common insulator in hard coolers because it traps air in tiny cells that slow heat transfer. The thicker the foam, the slower the ice melts, other things being equal.
What the ice retention figures say
VEVOR states that the cooler keeps ice for up to 48 hours at temperatures of 0°C (32°F) or lower, and up to 8 hours at 20°C (68°F) or higher, after which the ice turns to water. These are the brand's figures under its own conditions, and real results vary with weather, how often you open the lid, and how full it is.
VEVOR also gives two tips: keep the cooler out of direct sunlight, and use ice for at least 40% of the total volume. Pre-chilling the cooler and the food, and adding reusable ice packs, typically help too.
Lid seal and latches
The lid has a gasket and secure latches. VEVOR says these help reduce spills in a vehicle, even on bumpy roads, and lock in the cold. The wording is "leak-resistant", which is not the same as waterproof, so keep the cooler upright when it holds meltwater, and drain it before moving it if you can.
Carrying
The cooler has ergonomic handles. It weighs 7.5 lb (about 3.4 kg) empty and measures 12.2 x 17.3 x 14.2 inches (31 x 44 x 36 cm), so a full cooler with ice and drinks becomes noticeably heavier than the empty weight. Check that the dimensions suit your boot, boat or car footwell.
Who it suits
It suits day trips, picnics, campsites, tailgating and sports events where you need cold drinks and food for a few people. It is less suited to multi-day trips without access to fresh ice.
What to check before you buy
- Capacity: compare 24 quarts, or 36 cans, with how much you really carry.
- Space: measure your car, boat or storage spot against the outer size.
- Ice plan: the brand suggests at least 40% ice by volume, so allow for it.
- Food handling: follow standard food-storage guidance for perishable items.
- Cleaning: check the manual on cleaning and drying the interior and gasket.
- Weight when full: make sure you can lift it comfortably.
