The VEVOR WMCP07-1 is a portable wood-burning stove made for hot tents and winter camping. It heats a canvas tent from inside and doubles as a cooking surface, and it comes with a chimney pipe set and accessories so that a single package gets you started.
Firebox size and fire control
VEVOR gives the firebox as 1400 cubic inches (about 23 litres). A larger firebox holds more wood per load, which VEVOR says means longer burns without constant refuelling. The stove has a damper and ventilation holes to adjust airflow, and the damper is the main way to control how fast the fire burns. An integrated ashtray collects ash, so it can be cleaned out without taking the stove apart.
Secondary combustion
VEVOR describes "efficient secondary combustion": airflow through ventilation holes feeds extra air into the fire, which the company says burns wood more completely, reducing ash and delivering heat quickly. In general, a more complete burn leaves less unburnt smoke and residue, but results depend on dry wood and good draft.
Materials and window
The panels are 3 mm (0.12 inch) thick. The listing describes them as rust-resistant alloy steel (elsewhere it says stainless steel), designed to resist deformation at high temperatures and during rough transport. VEVOR also says a coating process gives odourless heating and cooking. A glass window, which VEVOR says is Japanese NEG fireplace glass, lets you see the fire without opening the door.
What comes in the package
The package includes 8 chimney pipes and, in VEVOR's count, 9 accessories, among them a rain cap, a stove bag, protective gloves and a fire hook. The stove and accessories together weigh 26.7 lb (about 12 kg), and the stove measures roughly 15.5 x 16.7 x 23.9 inches (39 x 42 x 61 cm). It is made to be assembled and taken apart, so it packs down for transport.
Cooking and heating
The flat top can hold a pot or kettle, which makes the stove useful for simmering and boiling water in camp. As a heater, how well it warms a tent depends on the tent's size, the weather and how it is vented.
Who it suits
It suits hot-tent campers, hunters and ice-fishing trips, and anyone setting up a heated shelter where wood is available and permitted.
What to check before you buy
- Your tent: it needs a stove jacket or a chimney port that is made for wood stoves, and a safe distance from the fabric.
- Local rules: check whether open fires and wood burning are allowed where you camp, including seasonal bans.
- Ventilation: follow the manual on ventilation and smoke or carbon monoxide risks, and use a suitable alarm.
- Chimney set-up: confirm the pipe length and the spark arrestor or rain cap you need.
- Weight and carrying: 26.7 lb is light for a stove, but it is still a load on foot.
- Upkeep: plan for cleaning ash and checking the glass and seals.
