The VEVOR SS-1014 is an inflatable towable tube for two riders. It is pulled behind a boat on a rope, and riders hold on to padded handles while the boat sets the pace. It is designed for lakes, rivers and coastal water, and it deflates for transport.

Build and materials

VEVOR says the tube has a thick PVC liner, which holds the air, inside a full nylon cover with double-stitched seams. In general, the cover protects the liner from abrasion and the stitching carries the load when a rider pulls on the handles. The brand says the materials resist UV exposure and ageing. Even so, it also advises avoiding prolonged direct sunlight, which can lead to bursting and cracking.

Riders and capacity

The tube is intended for up to two riders, with a stated maximum of 340 lbs (154 kg). That figure is the combined rider weight. The tube measures 51.2 x 51.2 x 12.2 inches and weighs 9.7 lb (about 4.4 kg).

VEVOR says the shape suits both prone (lying on your front) and kneeling positions. An anti-slip pad is meant to reduce shifting during high-speed rides and sharp turns.

Handles, drainage and towing

There are four padded grip handles, two for each rider. Padding makes the handles more comfortable during a longer ride. A drainage opening is included, which the brand says helps stop the tube from sinking or slowing down.

The tow connection is a front tow point: slide the rope through the hole and tie a knot. Tow rope, boat and rider limits are covered in your boat's and rope's manuals, and the rope you choose needs to be suitable for towables.

Inflation and storage

The tube has a secure air valve that VEVOR says seals tightly and resists leaks. Inflation and deflation are described as easy. The inflation pump is not included, so you need to bring your own. After use, deflate and dry it before putting it away, as the brand's note recommends.

Who it suits

It suits families and groups who already have a boat and want a simple towable for relaxed rides on the water. As a two-rider tube, it works for a pair of adults, an adult with a child, or two younger riders within the weight limit.

What to check before you buy

  • Boat and local rules: many regions have rules on towing, lookouts, life jackets and observers. Check the rules where you boat.
  • Weight: the combined weight of your riders has to be within 340 lbs.
  • Pump: it is not included, so have a suitable one.
  • Rope: use a rope that is rated for towables, and tie the knot as the manual describes.
  • Sun and storage: plan to keep it out of long direct sun when it isn't in use.
  • Riders' age and experience: follow the manual and the minimum ages that apply where you boat.
