The VEVOR JH-101 is a portable 12 x 6 ft soccer goal for the backyard, park or beach. It is built from PVC pipe sections that snap together, covered with a PE net, and packed into a carry bag. VEVOR designs it for adults and kids, for practice and casual games rather than organized matches.

Size and weight

The goal is about 146 inches wide, 72 inches high and 48 inches deep (roughly 3.7 m x 1.8 m x 1.2 m), and weighs 14.2 lb (6.4 kg). 12 x 6 ft is a common size for youth and recreational goals, but it is smaller than a full-size 24 x 8 ft goal. That is something to keep in mind if you play on a full pitch.

Frame and netting

The frame uses strengthened PVC pipes that VEVOR says resist cracking and deformation. PVC is light and doesn't rust, which suits something that stays outdoors, but it is less rigid than steel. VEVOR notes that, because of the sectional structure and the weight of the PVC, a slight bend in the top beam is normal.

The netting is PE (polyethylene) with a 30-ply knot design. VEVOR describes it as weather-resistant and strong enough for high-impact shots. As with any net, sun and wet weather gradually age it, so taking it down after play can extend its life.

Setup without tools

Pipe sections lock together with a snap mechanism, and easy-attach net clips fix the net to the frame, so no tools are needed. Follow the manual's order so the net sits evenly.

Staying put

A light goal can tip or slide, especially when it is hit or when wind catches the net. The set comes with 10 ground nails to fix it to the ground. They are useful on grass or soil, but on sand, hard ground or a hard surface, look at other ways to weigh it down, such as sandbags that don't damage the frame. Never let children climb or hang on the goal, and take it down in strong wind.

Carrying and storing

The goal packs into a carry bag, so you can take it to a park or beach or put it in a garage or shed. VEVOR also markets it as a gift for young soccer players.

Who it suits

It suits families with a backyard, kids' practice, coaches who want a goal they can move, and anyone who wants a goal that goes away after play.

What to check before you buy

  • Space: measure the area, including room behind the goal for the 4-foot depth and a safe run-off.
  • Surface: check that the nails will hold in your ground.
  • Players: a 12 x 6 ft goal suits younger and recreational players better than a full-size match.
  • Wind and weather: plan to take it down in bad weather.
  • Storage: find room for the bag and its contents.
  • Local rules: if it is for a park, school or shared space, check what is allowed.
