The VEVOR 2-Speed Spa Pump, model 48HT1501-II, is a replacement circulation and jet pump for hot tubs and spas. It runs on 110V power and offers a high speed for the jets and a low speed for everyday circulation. VEVOR positions it as a replacement for the original pump, so matching its specs to your old one is the main task.

Two speeds, two jobs

At high speed, VEVOR gives 1.5 HP, a flow of 150 GPM and a head of 42.65 ft. At low speed, the figures are 0.46 HP, 70 GPM and 9.18 ft. Flow (GPM, gallons per minute) is the volume of water moved, while head is how high the pump can push water against resistance, a measure of pressure.

In a typical spa, high speed powers the massage jets and low speed handles quieter filtration and heating circulation, using less energy. Having both in one motor avoids needing two separate pumps.

"48-frame" and why it matters

The 48 frame is a standard motor size in spa pumps. A matching frame size and similar mounting often make a swap simpler, but it is not the only thing to check. VEVOR's own advice is that a spa pump's specification depends on its input power, not the output power, so compare the parameters on your existing pump before buying. Horsepower numbers can be labelled differently by different makers, so look at the amperage and voltage on the old pump's label as well.

Rotatable 2-inch port

The pump head and interface can be turned by removing screws, which lets you set the angle to fit tight spaces or an awkward pipe layout. VEVOR says this simplifies the piping and makes future maintenance easier. Two 2-inch (5.6 cm, as the listing states) connectors are included to fit a range of tubs.

Motor, seals and protection

VEVOR describes a pure copper wire motor with anti-creep bearings, and says each motor has passed an 80,000-cycle electric test. The shaft seal is fluororubber, which resists heat, corrosion, oil and ageing, and is meant to help keep water out of the motor. Seals are among the wear parts on any pump, so check the manual on inspection.

A Texas Instruments thermal protector monitors motor temperature. VEVOR says it disconnects the circuit when the temperature passes a set value, protecting the motor from overheating.

Size and weight

The pump measures about 14.8 x 4.9 x 7.9 inches (37.6 x 12.4 x 20 cm) and weighs 25.4 lb (about 11.5 kg). Check that your equipment bay has room for it and for the rotated head.

Who it suits

It suits owners replacing a worn or failed 48-frame spa pump on a 110V circuit, and people who want a pump with low and high speeds. Electrical work on a spa involves water and should follow local electrical codes. If you are unsure about wiring, grounding or protection devices, use a qualified electrician and follow the manual.

What to check before you buy

  • Old pump label: compare voltage, amperage, frame size and horsepower with the new pump.
  • Plumbing: confirm your pipes use 2-inch connections, or that the supplied connectors suit them.
  • Power supply: the pump is a 110V, 60Hz model; check your circuit and any required protection.
  • Space: allow for the 14.8-inch length and the rotated head.
  • Speed control: check that your spa's controller can switch between two-speed pump settings.
  • Upkeep: note how to drain and inspect the pump for winter or long breaks.

The short version

  • VEVOR 48HT1501-II: a two-speed, 48-frame, 110V spa pump.
  • High speed 1.5 HP / 150 GPM / 42.65 ft; low speed 0.46 HP / 70 GPM / 9.18 ft.
  • Rotatable pump head with 2-inch connectors included.
  • Fluororubber shaft seal and thermal protection on the motor.
  • Compare it with your old pump's label before buying.
