The Sportsroyals power rack is a squat cage that also includes a cable crossover system, a dip station and a pull-up bar. The idea is to put barbell lifting and cable work into one frame, with the accessories included, for a home gym with limited space.
Frame and build
Sportsroyals says the cage is made of 13-gauge rolled steel tubing, 40 x 80 mm and 2 mm thick, and that it has 14 reinforcing tabs. It weighs 273 lb (about 124 kg) and the footprint is 61.9 x 67.9 inches with a height of 83.6 inches (roughly 157 x 172 x 212 cm). A heavy frame generally helps stability under load, but check your ceiling height before you commit, especially if you'll do pull-ups.
Reading the weight limits
The 1,600 lb figure in the listing is the frame's total capacity. The brand also gives limits for individual parts:
- Max user weight: 440 lb
- Safety bar: 700 lb
- Cable: 440 lb
- Dip bar: 350 lb
- Pull-up bar: 440 lb
- J-hook: 500 lb
The part limits are the useful numbers. The overall figure is only a ceiling, and each attachment has its own limit. Keep your lifting within the lowest limit that applies to the exercise you're doing, and follow the manual.
How the cable crossover works
The cable system has a dual pulley with 20 height positions. Sportsroyals says the weight-to-pull ratio is close to 1:2. In general, a 1:2 ratio means the handle moves twice as far as the weight, so you feel roughly half the plate load at the handle. Check this when you plan your loading, because it changes how much plate you need.
Listed uses include wide and narrow lat pulldowns, seated cable rows, bicep curls, triceps extensions, landmine movements, pull-ups, chin-ups and dips. The weight plate holder fits 2-inch Olympic plates or 1-inch standard plates. Plates aren't mentioned as included.
What's in the box
The listing includes:
- Lat pulldown bar and cable bar
- Two multi-position cable handles
- Two J-hooks and two safety bars
- Wide/narrow dip bars (two)
- 360° landmine and a foot board
- Battle rope ring and six band pegs
- 1-inch and 2-inch barbell clamps (two)
- Weight plate bracket
A barbell, bench and weight plates aren't in this list, so you'll supply those for squats and presses.
Delivery and assembly
It ships in three packages, which Sportsroyals says normally arrive within three days of each other. The brand recommends two to three people for assembly and provides a manual and installation videos.
Who it suits
It suits lifters who have a barbell and plates and want a squat rack, pull-up station and cable machine in one footprint. It's less suited to small spaces with low ceilings, or to people who want a ready-to-use machine with a built-in weight stack.
What to check before you buy
- Ceiling and floor space: the cage is 83.6 inches tall and needs clearance around it.
- Equipment: you'll need a barbell, plates and ideally a bench.
- Capacity: compare each part limit with your planned lifts.
- Floor: a garage slab or a protected floor is usually best for a rack this heavy.
- Assembly: plan for helpers and a few hours.
- Safety: set the safety bars to match each exercise and follow the manual.
