The MOES Bluetooth Sprinkler Timer (model BWV-YC02-US-GY-MS) is a hose-end water timer with two outlets. It screws onto an outdoor tap and lets you water two separate parts of a garden on a schedule, set from a phone, so watering doesn't depend on someone remembering to turn the tap on and off.

Two outlets, two zones

The timer's dual-outlet design lets you run two hoses, each controlled independently. A typical use is one hose for a lawn sprinkler and one for a flower bed or vegetable patch, which often need different amounts of water. MOES says this lets you tailor irrigation to each area's needs. Each outlet gets its own schedule, so there's no need for two timers.

Timed and cyclical schedules

There are two ways to program it. The timed schedule sets specific watering sessions, which suits keeping moisture steady. The cyclical schedule repeats at an interval you choose, which MOES says makes it easier to adapt to the season or to what the plants need. In practice, a cyclical programme might water every other day for a set time, then be changed as summer heat arrives or fades.

Manual mode and rain delay

In manual mode you can water right away without disturbing the programmed schedule, useful for a one-off soak of a new planting. The rain delay pauses the schedule for 1 to 7 days and then resumes it automatically. That's a simple way to skip watering after a wet spell without losing your settings.

Bluetooth range and what it can't do

This is the "without hub" edition, and the listing is clear about what that means. You pair it with the compatible app and control it from your phone within Bluetooth range, which MOES puts at up to 49.2 ft (about 15 m) in unobstructed conditions. Walls, fences and distance reduce that in real yards.

It does not work with Alexa or Google Home, and it can't be managed remotely when you're away from home. If you want to adjust watering from a holiday, you'd need a version with a hub; if you're happy to set it up when you're in the yard, this one does that.

Weather protection

MOES classes the timer as IP55, which it describes as protection against sun exposure, watering and rust, and it mentions an integrated rubber gasket to keep water out of the internal parts. The IP55 class generally means protection against dust and against water jets from any direction, but it isn't designed for submersion. Mount it where it's not sitting in standing water, and check the manual on winter storage, as freezing can damage most hose fittings.

Size and fit

It measures about 7.1 x 5.1 x 3.4 inches (18 x 13 x 8.6 cm). It's a US-market model, so the connections are intended for standard US garden-hose threads.

Who it suits

It suits a household with a lawn and a bed or vegetable patch that need different schedules, and someone happy to use a phone app nearby. It is less suitable if you want to control watering while away from home or by voice.

What to check before you buy

  • Tap and hose threads: confirm your outdoor tap and hoses use standard US garden-hose fittings.
  • Signal range: check how far your tap is from where you'll stand with your phone.
  • Remote control: this edition has no hub, so there's no control away from home.
  • Power: confirm what batteries it uses and how the manual says to install them.
  • Winter: plan to bring it indoors or drain it before freezing weather.

The short version

  • A two-outlet hose timer that waters two zones independently.
  • Timed and cyclical schedules, a manual mode and a 1-7 day rain delay.
  • Bluetooth control within about 49.2 ft in open conditions; no hub, so no remote or voice control.
  • IP55-rated for outdoor use with a rubber sealing gasket.
  • About 7.1 x 5.1 x 3.4 inches.
