The Jackery Solar Generator 1000 v2 pairs the Explorer 1000 v2 portable power station with a 200W solar panel. It is a battery you can carry, with enough output to run small appliances and charge devices away from a wall socket. Jackery positions it for camping, road trips, RV use and emergency backup.
What 1,070Wh and 1,500W mean
Two numbers describe a power station. Capacity, in watt-hours, is how much energy the battery stores. Output, in watts, is how much it can supply at one moment. Jackery lists 1,070Wh of capacity and a 1,500W AC output, with a 3,000W surge peak for the brief spike some motors draw when they start.
As a rough guide, a 100W device could run for several hours on 1,070Wh, allowing for conversion losses, while a 1,500W appliance would drain it in well under an hour. Check the wattage on the label of anything you plan to run, and add up what runs at the same time.
Ports and what they charge
Jackery lists three pure sine wave AC outlets, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and a DC car port, plus LED lights. Pure sine wave output is the same smooth waveform as household power, which is generally gentler on sensitive electronics. One USB-C port supports 100W Power Delivery, enough to charge many laptops directly without a separate adapter.
Charging: wall, app and sun
Jackery says a full charge takes 1.7 hours by default, chosen to look after the battery. In the Jackery App you can switch on an emergency mode that it says reaches 100% in one hour, and the setting has to be enabled before each charge. The app also offers a quiet overnight mode rated at 30 dB and an energy-efficiency mode.
The included 200W solar panel lets you recharge outdoors. Solar charging time depends heavily on sun angle, cloud and season, so treat any quoted figure as a best case.
Battery life
The battery uses LiFePO4 (LFP) chemistry. Jackery says it keeps over 70% of its original capacity after 4,000 charge cycles, a lifespan it puts at more than ten years. LFP cells are generally valued for long cycle life and stable behaviour.
Size and weight
The unit measures 12.9 x 8.8 x 9.7 inches (about 33 x 22 x 25 cm) and weighs 23.8 lb (about 10.8 kg), with a foldable handle. That is light for this capacity, though the panel is extra to carry.
Who it suits
It suits campers and RV travellers, people who want a silent alternative to a fuel generator for small loads, and households wanting backup for essentials such as a phone, router or lights. It is not meant for running high-draw appliances for long.
What to check before you buy
- Your loads: list the wattage of what you want to run and for how long.
- Heavy appliances: air conditioners and similar loads can exceed 1,500W or drain the battery quickly.
- Shipping: the power station and panel are listed as shipped separately, so expect two deliveries.
- Charging mode: the one-hour mode must be switched on in the app each time.
- Cables and connectors: confirm the panel connection and any extra cables you need.
- Safety: follow the manual and local codes, and keep it ventilated and dry.
