The Jackery Explorer 3000 Pro is a large portable power station: a battery with outlets that can run appliances without a fuel generator. Jackery positions it for RVs, travel trailers, off-grid trips and home backup. Here is what the numbers mean.

Capacity and output

The two key figures are 3024Wh of capacity and 3000W of output. Watt-hours say how much energy the battery holds; watts say how much it can deliver at once. As a rough guide, a 100W device could run for a very long time on 3024Wh, while a 1500W appliance would drain it in roughly two hours, less once conversion losses are counted. Jackery says it supports 99% of appliances, but you should add up the running and start-up watts of what you plan to power. Heating appliances use the most.

Charging options

Jackery says the unit charges fully from a wall outlet in 2.4 hours. It can also take solar input, and Jackery quotes 3 to 4 hours using six 200W panels, which are sold separately. It cites solar conversion efficiency of up to 25% and says its panels produce 50% more in low light. These are brand claims, and real solar charging time depends on sun, panel angle and season. A car charge cable is included for charging on the road.

Ports and app

The listing mentions two 100W USB-C power delivery ports for laptops and tablets alongside AC outlets. Through the Jackery app, over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, you can see battery level, estimated run time, and input and output wattage, and adjust settings.

Battery protection

Jackery describes an upgraded battery management system with 12 forms of protection, improved heat dissipation (30% better, it says) and an embedded security chip. In general, a BMS monitors the battery for problems such as overheating, over-current and short circuits. Use it as the manual describes.

Size and moving it

It weighs about 63.9 lb (29 kg) and measures about 18.6 x 14.1 x 14.7 inches (47 x 36 x 37 cm). An aluminium alloy pull rod and a non-slip silicone strip are meant to make it easier to move and stow, but at that weight, lifting it into a vehicle is a two-person job for many people.

What is in the box

The power station, an AC charge cable, a car charge cable, two DC7909 to DC8020 adaptors, an accessories bag and a user manual.

Who it suits

It suits RV and trailer owners, people who want backup for essentials during outages and anyone camping off-grid. For home backup, remember a power station of this kind is typically plugged into appliances directly; connecting to household wiring is a job for a licensed electrician and subject to local codes.

What to check before you buy

  • Your loads: add the running and start-up watts of each appliance, and estimate hours of use.
  • Solar panels: they are sold separately, so confirm the connectors and the panel wattage you need.
  • Weight: make sure you can move and put it away.
  • Charging speed: the quoted times assume suitable wall power or the stated solar array.
  • Delivery: the listing says a physical address is required, not a PO box.
  • Incentives: any tax programmes are for you to check with the relevant authority or your utility.

The short version

  • 3024Wh capacity with 3000W output.
  • 2.4 hours to full from a wall outlet, per Jackery.
  • Solar input, with panels sold separately.
  • App monitoring over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and two 100W PD ports.
  • About 63.9 lb with a pull rod; follow the manual.
