The iScooter E9 PRO is a foldable electric scooter built around a 500W motor and a 36V battery. It is aimed at adults and teenagers who want a compact way to cover short trips across a city, campus or office park, and who need something that folds to fit in a car boot. Here is what its figures mean in practice.
Motor, speed and range
iScooter lists a 500W motor and a top speed of 15.6 mph (about 25 km/h). The battery is 36V and 7.5Ah, which works out to roughly 270Wh of stored energy, and the brand quotes a maximum range of 18 miles (about 29 km). Range figures like this are usually measured under favourable conditions, so real distances are typically shorter with a heavier rider, hills, cold weather, headwinds or constant top speed. Charging is listed at 3 to 6 hours.
The scooter also has a cruise control function, which holds a steady speed so the rider doesn't need to keep the throttle pressed.
Tyres and suspension
The E9 PRO uses 10-inch honeycomb solid tyres. Solid tyres can't puncture or lose pressure, so there is no pump or inner tube to look after. The trade-off, in general, is that they transmit more vibration than air-filled tyres, which is why iScooter pairs them with rear suspension. The brand says this keeps the ride comfortable on rough or bumpy surfaces. The maximum rider load is listed as 264 lb (about 120 kg).
Braking and lights
Two braking systems work together: a disc brake and EABS, an electronic regenerative anti-lock system. Regenerative braking uses the motor to slow the scooter and can feed a little energy back to the battery. For night riding there is a headlight that iScooter says reaches 15 metres, plus a warning taillight. Whatever the lighting, follow local rules on lights, helmets and where scooters may be ridden.
App control
The scooter connects over Bluetooth to the free Minirobot app on iPhone and Android. According to iScooter, the app handles lock and unlock, lights, gear selection, zero or non-zero start, a maximum speed limit and cruise control. A speed limit setting can be handy if the scooter is shared with a younger rider.
Folding and carrying
The scooter folds in one step, which iScooter says takes about three seconds. The listing gives the weight as 26.4 lb in the item dimensions and 32 lb in the feature text, so check the figure on the box or manual if lifting matters to you. Either way it is light enough to lift into a boot or carry up a short flight of stairs. Unfolded, it measures about 45 inches (115 cm) long and high.
Who it suits
It fits commuters with short, fairly smooth routes, students moving between buildings, and anyone who combines scooter and public transport. It is less suited to long hilly trips or very rough ground.
What to check before you buy
- Local rules: electric scooter laws differ by country, province and city, covering where you can ride, age limits and helmets.
- Your route: compare the quoted 18-mile range with your daily distance, allowing a generous margin.
- Weight and carrying: confirm the weight and folded size against your car boot or storage space.
- Rider weight: the listed maximum load is 264 lb.
- Charging: plan for the 3 to 6 hour charge time and somewhere safe to charge, following the manual.
- Warranty: iScooter lists 12 months or 180 days depending on the part; read the terms.
