The besrey kids' kick scooter is a folding three-wheel scooter for children aged 3 to 10. It has two wheels at the front and one at the back, a wide deck and light-up wheels, and it is meant for young riders who are learning balance and steering. Here is what the main features mean.
Lean-to-steer
Instead of turning the handlebar like a bicycle, a rider on a lean-to-steer scooter shifts their weight, and the front wheels pivot to follow. besrey says this helps with balance and coordination. The handlebar still provides support, and the design is common on scooters for younger children because the movement feels natural.
Two front wheels for stability
Two wide front wheels give a broader base than a single wheel, which typically helps a new rider feel steadier. besrey says the widened base design makes the scooter stronger, with a maximum rider weight of 110 lb (about 50 kg). Check that weight against your child, and the age range of 3 to 10 against their size and confidence.
Deck and brake
The deck is extra wide, with an anti-slip coating to help feet stay planted. Braking is by a rear brake: the rider steps down on it to stop, and besrey describes it as highly sensitive. It's worth practising stopping on flat ground before riding anywhere with traffic or slopes. The handlebar grips are soft, which besrey says helps kids hold on and control the scooter.
LED light-up wheels
The two large front wheels and the small rear wheel use LED lighting built into PU wheels. The lights are motion-activated and need no batteries, and besrey says they get brighter as speed increases. They add visibility in low light, but they are no substitute for proper lighting and supervision.
Folding and height adjustment
The scooter arrives assembled and unfolds in one step, which besrey says makes it easy to carry and put away. It also has an adjustable-height handlebar, so it can be set to suit a growing child. Folded dimensions are given as 11.4 x 10.2 x 23.2 inches, and the scooter weighs 6.2 lb (about 2.8 kg), light enough for a child or adult to carry short distances.
Standards
besrey says the scooter is certified to ASTM F963-17 and the European EN71 standards, after repeated testing. Both are toy safety standards. A scooter is not a substitute for supervision, so follow the manual and use a helmet and pads, as is standard for children's riding toys.
What to check before you buy
- Your child's weight, height and age against the listed limits.
- The handlebar's height range and whether it will suit them as they grow.
- Where they'll ride: smooth pavement is typically best for small PU wheels.
- Helmet and pad sizes.
- Storage and carrying needs, including space in a car boot.
- How the folding and height-lock mechanisms work, so an adult can check them before each ride.
