The BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 is a small portable power station: a battery with AC outlets and other ports, so you can run electronics and some small appliances away from a wall socket. It stores 288Wh and delivers 600W through its AC inverter. BLUETTI aims it at camping, road trips and home power outages.

What 288Wh and 600W mean

Watt-hours describe how much energy the battery holds. Watts describe how much it can deliver at one time. A 288Wh battery could run a 50W device for roughly five hours, though real figures are lower because of conversion losses. A 600W inverter handles things like laptops, lights, fans and phone chargers, but not heavy loads. Always add up the wattage of what you plan to plug in.

LiFePO4 battery

The Elite 30 V2 uses a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery. This chemistry typically lasts for more charge cycles than standard lithium-ion cells and is widely used in power stations. It weighs about 9.4 lb (4.3 kg) and measures 12.5 x 13.4 x 9.7 inches, light enough to carry to a campsite.

Power lifting to 1500W

BLUETTI's "Power Lifting" feature lets the station run some devices rated up to 1500W, even though its inverter is 600W. The brand says this allows small heating appliances such as kettles and toasters. Typically, such modes reduce the output so the device runs below its full power, so check the manual for which appliances work and how they behave.

Charging options

The listing says there are eight charging methods, including AC, solar and car charging. From 0 to 100% by AC takes 70 minutes, according to BLUETTI. Solar charging works with a 100W or 200W panel, but the standard accessories do not include a solar charging cable, and panels are optional and sold separately.

UPS mode and outlets

In a power outage, UPS mode switches over in about 10 ms, which BLUETTI says is hardly noticeable. That can help keep a router, desktop or similar equipment running. The station has nine outlets in total.

Who it suits

It suits campers, road trippers and people who want light backup power for small devices at home. It doesn't suit running large appliances.

What to check before you buy

  • Your loads: list the wattage of every device and check that it fits within 600W.
  • Runtime: estimate hours from watt-hours divided by device watts, with a margin.
  • Solar: check the panel and cable needed.
  • Medical devices: don't rely on any power station for them unless the maker confirms it's suitable.
  • Storage: follow the manual on temperature, charging and care.
