The BLUETTI AC50B is a compact portable power station with a 448Wh battery and two AC outlets rated at 700W each. It is built for camping, road trips and keeping small devices running during a power outage, and it can be recharged from the wall, a car or solar panels (sold separately).

What 448Wh and 700W mean

Watt-hours (Wh) describe how much energy the battery holds. Watts describe how much power it can deliver at one moment. With 448Wh, a device that draws 50W would, in rough terms, run for several hours, though conversion losses mean real runtime is shorter. The two AC outlets are rated at 700W each, and the listing mentions Power Lifting at 1000W, a mode that typically lets some appliances that draw more than the rated output run at reduced power. Check the appliance's wattage first, and check BLUETTI's notes on Power Lifting.

LiFePO4 battery

The AC50B uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells. BLUETTI says they last more than 3,500 cycles, which it equates to almost ten years of use. In general, LiFePO4 is known for a long cycle life and good thermal stability compared with other lithium chemistries. BLUETTI also names an AI-BMS (battery management system) that guards against overcharging and short circuits.

Six ports

  • Two 700W AC outlets
  • One 15W USB-A port
  • Two 65W USB-C ports
  • One 12V/10A car port

The USB-C ports can charge many phones and tablets, and a 65W port is typically enough for many laptops. The car port suits 12V accessories such as small coolers.

Charging options

For fast charging, you can enable Turbo Charging Mode in the BLUETTI App, which allows 580W of AC input and 0-80% in about 45 minutes. BLUETTI also states that a full charge from 200W of solar takes around three hours, and that the unit can charge from a car or a generator. Solar panels are not included. Real solar times depend on sunshine, panel angle and the weather, so treat them as best-case figures.

Size and weight

It measures about 11.0 x 7.9 x 8.7 inches (28 x 20 x 22 cm) and weighs 14.8 lb (about 6.7 kg), which is portable enough to carry to a campsite or keep in a car boot.

What's in the box

The listing includes the AC50B, an AC charging cable, a solar charging cable, a car charging cable and a user manual.

Who it suits

It suits campers, van and road-trip travellers, and households that want backup for phones, laptops, lights and small appliances. It is not designed for large loads such as heaters, big kitchen appliances or power tools that draw far more than 700W. Follow the manual for ventilation, storage and charging.

What to check before you buy

  • Device wattage: add up what you plan to run and compare it with 700W per outlet.
  • Runtime: divide the 448Wh by the device's draw, then allow for losses.
  • Solar: panels are sold separately, so check connector and voltage compatibility with the manual.
  • Weight: 14.8 lb is easy to carry short distances but heavy for long hikes.
  • Safety: follow the manual on temperature limits, ventilation and storage.

The short version

  • 448Wh LiFePO4 battery rated for 3,500+ cycles.
  • Two 700W AC outlets, two 65W USB-C, one USB-A and a 12V/10A car port.
  • Turbo Charging for 0-80% in about 45 minutes; solar charging via a 200W panel.
  • 14.8 lb (about 6.7 kg), with AC, solar and car charging cables.
