The VEVOR VS5164 is a countertop vacuum sealer. It draws the air out of a bag and then heat-seals it shut, which is a common way to keep food in the freezer or fridge, or to prepare it for marinating. This model has two pumps and two sealing strips, plus a bag cutter built into the lid.

How vacuum sealing helps

Removing air from around food reduces its contact with oxygen. Many people use this to keep food in the freezer in better condition, to portion bulk purchases, and to pack dry goods. It doesn't replace refrigeration or freezing, and food-safety advice still applies, so follow the manual and standard storage guidance.

Dual pump and 90 kPa

VEVOR rates the suction at 90 kPa and the power at 130W, from two vacuum pumps. A kPa figure describes how much of the air the sealer can remove, and in general a higher number means a stronger vacuum. Two pumps are meant to maintain suction when sealing several bags in a row. The two sealing strips are intended to make the seal airtight.

Dry, moist and manual modes

VEVOR says the machine seals both dry and moist foods, and you can choose the sealing time and the vacuum strength. It offers automatic and manual operation, plus a seal-only option for cases where you don't want suction, such as sealing delicate items. Moist foods are usually more demanding because liquid can be pulled towards the seal, so a moist setting and careful bag filling help.

External hose and marinating

An external hose with an interface connects the machine to compatible containers or accessories, and VEVOR says it can also be used for marinating. The hose is stored in a groove inside the upper cover.

Heat management and safety

An aluminum base is designed to dissipate heat, which VEVOR says allows continuous sealing without long breaks. A thermostat and NTC dual temperature control are included as protection against overheating. As with any heated sealing bar, keep fingers clear of the strip while it is hot.

Handling and design

The machine has built-in storage for a bag roll and a cutter, so you can cut a bag to length without a pair of scissors. A translucent window lets you watch the process, and the handle is easy-lock and designed for one-handed operation. It measures about 16.0 x 7.9 x 6.3 inches (about 41 x 20 x 16 cm) and weighs 7.1 lb (about 3.2 kg), so it can be stored in a cupboard.

What's included

The listing names an 8.7 in x 9.8 ft bag roll, an 11 in x 9.8 ft bag roll, ten 11 x 15.7 inch bags, the external hose with its interface, an extra foam gasket, high-temperature adhesive tape and a user manual.

What to check before you buy

  • Bag widths: the included rolls cover 8.7 and 11 inches, so check your usual portion sizes.
  • Bag type: confirm which bag textures work with the machine, as the manual describes.
  • Counter space: make sure you have room for the unit and the bag, with the lid open.
  • Moist foods: read the manual on freezing liquids first or leaving space at the bag's top.
  • Upkeep: note how to clean the sealing area and replace the foam gasket.
  • Food storage: follow safe-handling guidance for the foods you plan to seal.
