The VEVOR DZ-260A is a chamber vacuum sealer: you place a bag inside a chamber, close the lid, and the machine removes the air and seals the bag. It runs on 110V/60Hz and is made for larger food-preservation jobs than the small suction sealers most kitchens have.
Chamber versus suction sealers
A suction sealer pulls air out of the open end of a bag. A chamber machine instead evacuates the entire chamber, so the pressure inside and outside the bag falls together before it is sealed. In general, this is why chamber sealers can handle liquids, soups and marinades without drawing them into the machine. The lid is transparent glass, so you can watch the cycle.
Pump and vacuum figures
VEVOR rates the pump at 6.5 cbm/h and gives a maximum relative vacuum of -100 kPa. The listing gives pump power as 180W in one place; sealing power is shown as 260W in one place and 320W in another, so confirm which applies in the manual. Noise is listed as under 70 decibels.
Chamber and bag size
The chamber measures 12.99 x 10.63 x 1.97 inches (330 x 270 x 50 mm). The listing gives a sealing length of 10.2 inches (260 mm) in one place and 13 inches (33 cm) as the maximum sealing size elsewhere. The shallow 2-inch chamber means thin, flat pouches suit it best; tall items won't fit.
Controls
A microcomputer runs the cycle automatically. Vacuum, sealing and cooling times are adjustable, so you can tune them for different bags and foods. VEVOR also lists a red emergency stop, a start function and a marinating function. Marinating under vacuum typically helps the liquid penetrate meat faster.
Build and materials
The body is stainless steel, which is easy to wipe clean. The sealing bar is described as epoxy high-temperature material that is easy to replace. It is a heavy machine: the listing gives 43 lb in one place and 48.5 lb (22 kg) in another.
What comes with it
VEVOR lists vacuum bags (30 in one place, 60 in the specifications), heating wire, high-temperature tape or Teflon cloth, a filling plate and a bottle of vacuum pump oil. Because contents differ in the listing, check what arrives. Chamber pumps are usually oil-lubricated, so oil changes are part of upkeep.
Who it suits
It suits people who portion food in bulk, hunters and anglers, home cooks who like sous-vide or marinating, and small food businesses. VEVOR also lists dry goods, powders and electronic components.
What to check before you buy
- Space and weight: it is large and heavy, so plan a stable counter spot.
- Bag size: compare your usual bags to the chamber and sealing length.
- Bags: chamber machines use specific chamber bags, not textured suction bags.
- Pump oil: note the oil changes and use the type in the manual.
- Power: it is a 110V North American machine.
