The VEVOR MGBS-604B5 is a 24-inch built-in gas cooktop with four burners and a stainless steel panel. Its compact width suits apartments, small kitchens and RVs, where a full-size cooktop will not fit. It runs on natural gas or propane.

Burners and heat range

VEVOR gives a total of up to 27,000 BTU across the burners, including an 11,500 BTU dual-ring burner. A dual-ring burner has an inner and outer ring of flame, so it can run low for simmering or fire both for fast boiling and frying. VEVOR says the cooktop covers simmering, sautéing, frying and warming. BTU figures describe the heat input of the flame, so higher numbers mean faster heating for large pots.

Natural gas or propane

The cooktop arrives set for natural gas (NG) and includes LPG nozzles, so it can be converted to propane. Gas appliances need the right nozzles and pressure for the fuel they burn, and the conversion should be done as the manual describes, by a qualified person where local rules require.

Ignition and flame protection

The electronic ignition sparks when you turn a knob. VEVOR also lists thermocouple flame-out protection: if the flame goes out, the thermocouple cools and the gas valve closes, cutting the gas supply. That is a standard feature on gas cooktops. Always follow the manual and local gas codes for installation and use.

Built-in fit and materials

The cooktop needs a countertop cutout of 22.05 x 18.90 inches (560 x 480 mm), and the cutout corners are R10 rounded. The unit measures 23.0 x 19.9 x 3.5 inches and weighs 20.5 lb (about 9.3 kg). The burners are sealed, which VEVOR says limits spills getting underneath, and the stainless panel wipes clean. Removable cast-iron grates and cast supports hold pans, and the knobs are zinc alloy.

Who it suits

It suits renters and owners with a small kitchen, tiny-home and RV builders who want a gas cooktop, and anyone replacing a similar unit with a matching cutout.

What to check before you buy

  • Cutout size: measure your counter against 22.05 x 18.90 inches and the corner radius.
  • Fuel supply: confirm whether you have natural gas or propane, and the connection type required.
  • Installation: gas connections, ventilation and clearances should follow the manual and local codes.
  • Cookware: check that your largest pans sit well on the grates and spacing.
  • Cleaning: read the manual on cleaning the sealed burners and grates.
  • Ventilation: plan a range hood or other ventilation as local rules require.
