The VEVOR 5FT Commercial Exhaust Hood is a stainless steel hood designed to capture smoke, grease and cooking odours above a cooking line. VEVOR targets it at food trucks, concession trailers, RVs and commercial kitchens where a standard home range hood would be too small.
What an exhaust hood does
A hood sits above cooking equipment and pulls rising smoke, steam and grease-laden air toward a filter and then out through ductwork. Keeping that air out of the room matters for comfort, for cleanliness and for keeping grease off walls and ceilings.
A hood on its own is only part of a ventilation system. It needs a fan and duct, and commercial cooking is usually covered by local fire and building codes that set requirements for the installation.
Size and capture area
The hood is 59 inches wide, with listed dimensions of 59.0 x 20.9 x 29.9 inches (about 150 x 53 x 76 cm), and it weighs 80.7 lb (about 36.6 kg). VEVOR says that width can cover more than two cooktops at once. A wider canopy typically captures more of the plume from side-by-side burners or a flat-top and fryer. VEVOR also says it has two more smoke-locking tripods than an ordinary hood, intended to help keep smoke from spreading.
Stainless steel construction
The body is 201 stainless steel. VEVOR cites its heat resistance, rust resistance and stable structure, and says the metal helps resist deformation over time. 201 is a common grade in food-service equipment. It is generally less corrosion-resistant than 304, so consider how humid, salty or damp the setting is.
Removable grid filters
Two removable U-shaped grid oil filter meshes sit in the hood. They catch grease before it reaches the duct, and they can be taken out for washing. Filters are the part of a hood that needs regular cleaning, and a clogged filter reduces airflow and adds to fire risk. Follow the manual and local rules for how often to clean.
Installation
VEVOR says the hood arrives pre-assembled as one unit, with hanging loops for installation. Mounting it still involves securing 80 lb overhead, so check that the ceiling or frame can carry the weight, and plan the duct, the fan and the clearances above the cooking equipment. A qualified installer and local inspection may be required.
Who it suits
It fits owners fitting out a food truck or concession trailer, small restaurants and anyone building an outdoor or event kitchen who needs a wide hood in a ready-made unit.
What to check before you buy
- Width and depth: confirm 59 inches covers all your equipment, with overhang on each side.
- Fan and ducting: the listing describes the hood itself, so check what blower, duct and connections you need.
- Codes: commercial kitchens and mobile units often need approved hoods and fire suppression. Check local requirements.
- Weight and mounting: about 80.7 lb needs solid support.
- Material: 201 stainless steel suits many uses, but check it against your environment.
- Cleaning: plan for regular filter cleaning.
