The VEVOR HC-300Y is a 1500W electric grinder for turning dry grains, spices and similar ingredients into powder. It is made of stainless steel and holds up to 300 g per batch. Its swing design lets you tilt the whole body to pour out the powder rather than lifting the grinder.
How the swing design works
Most small grinders stand upright and you lift them to empty the jar. With the swing type, the body rotates through 270° on its frame. VEVOR says this makes pouring easier and that swinging the unit while it runs gives a finer, more uniform powder. If the result is too coarse, the brand suggests sieving out the larger pieces and grinding them again.
Motor, speed and blades
VEVOR rates the motor at 1500W and 28,000 r/min. High-speed grinders work by spinning blades fast enough to shatter dry material, rather than slowly crushing it between plates. The three-layer blade combines a crushing blade, a horn blade and a powder removal blade. VEVOR says it takes about 30 seconds to turn dehydrated food into fine powder and gives a fineness range of 30 to 300 mesh. Mesh numbers describe how many openings fit in an inch of screen, so a higher number means finer powder. A display lets you set and read the time.
What it can grind
The brand names grains (soy, corn, barley, wheat, oats, rye, peas and coffee beans) and spices (fennel, pepper, cinnamon and rosemary). It is clear that the grinder isn't suitable for wet, fresh, oily or sticky material. That is typical of this style of dry mill: moisture and oil make powder clump and cake onto the blades.
Run time and loading
- Run for no more than 5 minutes at a time, then rest for 5 to 10 minutes (VEVOR lists an operation time of 5 minutes and an interval of 10 minutes).
- Fill the jar so that the material covers the long blade, but stay under two-thirds of the jar. VEVOR says half full is best.
- Make sure the material is dry enough before grinding.
Safety features and cleaning
VEVOR says the unit only starts when the lid is fully buckled, stops automatically when the lid is opened, and has an overload protector. Don't wash the grinding tank with water; the brand suggests a dry cloth or brush. Always follow the manual for electrical use and local codes.
Size and who it suits
It measures 8.7 x 7.5 x 13.8 inches (about 22 x 19 x 35 cm) and weighs 8.8 lb (about 4 kg). It suits home cooks who mill their own flour or spice blends, small kitchens, and anyone who needs a powder of dried ingredients in modest batches.
What to check before you buy
- Batch size: 300 g per load, with the jar filled no more than two-thirds.
- What you'll grind: confirm that your ingredients are dry and not oily.
- Run limits: if you need large quantities, plan for rest periods between loads.
- Noise: high-speed grinders are loud; check the manual and where you'll use it.
- Counter space and power: make sure you have a suitable socket and room for the swinging body.
- Cleaning: it is cleaned dry, so keep a brush on hand.
