The VEVOR HC-1000Y is a high-speed electric pulverizer that turns dry grains, spices and similar ingredients into fine powder. Unlike a plate mill, it spins blades inside a stainless steel jar at very high speed, and its body swings so you can tip out the powder without lifting the machine. Here is how the listed specs fit together.
Swing design
The body can rotate through 270°, which VEVOR says makes pouring easier than with an upright grinder, since you do not have to pick up the whole unit. The brand also says that swinging the grinder while it runs can produce a more uniform, finer powder. If some pieces come out coarse, the listing suggests sieving them out and grinding them again.
Motor, speed and capacity
- Power: 3000W.
- Speed: 28,000 r/min, a typical figure for blade-type pulverizers, which rely on speed to shatter dry material.
- Capacity: 1000g (2.2 lb) per batch.
- Fineness: 30 to 300 mesh. Mesh numbers count the openings per inch in a sieve, so higher means finer powder.
- Run time: 5 minutes of continuous operation, then a 10-minute interval, with a display for setting and reading the time.
VEVOR describes a three-layer blade made up of a crushing blade, a horn blade and a powder removal blade, and says that dehydrated food can become fine powder in about 30 seconds. Actual times depend on the material and how full the jar is.
Construction and protection
The jar and hopper are stainless steel (the specification lists 403 stainless steel for the hopper), and the grinding tank measures 6.89 x 5.12 inches (17.5 x 13 cm). The lid uses a buckle, and the machine only starts when the lid is fully fastened. VEVOR says it stops automatically when the lid is opened and has an overload protector.
What to grind and what to avoid
The listed materials include grains such as soy, corn, barley, wheat, oats, rye, peas and coffee beans, and spices such as fennel, pepper, cinnamon and rosemary. The listing states clearly that it is not suitable for wet, fresh, oily or sticky materials. These tend to clump and coat the blades.
Using it
VEVOR's tips are:
- Fasten the lid fully before switching on.
- Make sure the material is dry.
- Rest the machine for 5 to 10 minutes after every 5 minutes of work.
- Cover the long blade, but fill no more than two-thirds of the jar; half is ideal.
- Don't wash the tank directly with water; wipe with a dry cloth or brush.
In the box
One grinder, a carbon brush set (spare motor brushes, which wear over time), a cleaning brush, a sieve, a blade set, a sleeve and an instruction manual.
Who it suits
It fits people who regularly make small batches of powder, such as home cooks grinding spices, those milling their own flour in small quantities, or small producers. At 13.7 lb (6.2 kg), it is more manageable than a large plate mill.
What to check before you buy
- Power supply: 3000W is a lot, so confirm the voltage and circuit.
- Duty cycle: the 5-minutes-on, 10-minutes-off pattern affects how much you can grind in a session.
- Materials: only dry, non-oily ingredients.
- Noise: high-speed grinders are loud.
- Cleaning: it can't be rinsed, so allow time for dry cleaning.
- Size: 8.9 x 7.5 x 14.6 inches, with room to swing.
