This VEVOR still is a 3-gallon (about 12 L) home distillation kit built from stainless steel, copper and silicone. It heats a liquid until it boils, then cools the vapour back into liquid in a copper coil. This page covers how it works, what is supplied and what to think about first.
How the still works
Distillation separates substances by their boiling points. The liquid is heated in the boiler barrel, vapour rises into the condenser, and the cooled vapour drips out as a liquid. VEVOR says the unit handles about 12 litres of raw material, with a boiler barrel of roughly 9.8 x 9.8 inches (25 cm) and a condenser of about 7.9 x 4.3 inches (20 x 11 cm).
Listed uses include whiskey, wine, brandy, rum, vodka and similar spirits, as well as water distilling and ethanol. Rules on home distilling alcohol differ widely between countries and regions, so check what applies to you.
Open cooling with a copper coil
The kit uses an open cooling method: a copper coil sits in a coolant bath. VEVOR says copper's rapid heat conduction and the coil's large contact area with the coolant lower the vapour temperature quickly. A rubber pad under the condenser is described as insulating and helping it cool. Copper is a common choice for stills because it conducts heat well.
Thermometer, valve and seals
A thermometer on the lid shows Celsius and Fahrenheit together, so you can track the temperature of the liquid during a run. Four buckles and a silicone gasket seal the lid, and a one-way exhaust valve is included for the fermentation stage. The tubes are food-grade silicone, which VEVOR says stays flexible and holds its shape.
VEVOR describes all parts as food-grade materials, covering silicone, stainless steel and copper.
Heating options
The barrel has a thickened base. VEVOR says it can be used with gas stoves, firewood and electric ceramic heaters. Check that your heat source can carry the weight and fit the barrel's diameter. Distilling involves hot steam and flammable vapour, so use it in a ventilated area and follow the manual.
What is in the box
The listing's package contents are the distiller, the condenser keg, a thermometer, a one-way air evacuation valve and a manual. The gross weight is given as 8.5 lb (3.9 kg), and the package measures about 13.8 x 13.8 x 13 inches (35 x 35 x 33 cm). Nothing is listed for the cooling water, such as a pump or hoses, so you provide your own coolant arrangements.
Who it suits
VEVOR says it is suitable for beginners and experienced users. It fits someone who wants a modest 3-gallon batch size and a simple setup without a pump, or someone who wants to distil water at home.
What to check before you buy
- Legality: find out the rules where you live on owning a still and distilling alcohol.
- Batch size: 3 gallons is a smaller capacity than many stills, so make sure it meets your needs.
- Heat source: confirm that the barrel's base suits your stove or heater.
- Cooling: plan how you'll keep the coolant bath cool and refreshed during a run.
- Ventilation and space: choose a well-ventilated spot.
- Cleaning: check the manual for how to clean the copper and stainless steel parts.
The short version
- A 3-gallon (about 12 L) stainless steel still with a copper condenser coil.
- Lid thermometer in °C and °F, one-way exhaust valve and four-buckle sealed lid.
- Works with several heat sources, according to VEVOR.
- Supplied with condenser keg, thermometer, valve and manual.
- Check local rules, ventilation and the manual before use.
