The VEVOR 2L Slushie Machine is a countertop frozen-drink maker for home use. Pour in a liquid, pick a program, and a built-in compressor chills and stirs it into slush, a milkshake or a frappé without needing ice. Here is how it works and what to know before choosing it.
Six preset programs
VEVOR lists six programs: slush, spiked slush, milkshake, frozen juice, frappé and cold drinks. You do not add ice or chill the ingredients first. A customised slushie mode lets you make the result thicker or thinner than the presets.
Slush depends on sugar. A frozen drink needs enough dissolved sugar to turn into a soft slush rather than a solid block, which is why VEVOR says the sugar content must exceed 6% and warns against making slush without sugar. For alcoholic drinks, the stated alcohol content must be between 4% and 16%, since alcohol lowers the freezing point. Follow the included recipe and manual closely.
Compressor cooling and stirring
The machine uses a compressor, as a freezer does, rather than relying on ice. VEVOR says it produces frozen drinks in 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature, and never more than an hour. A room that is warmer will take longer. Rotating blades, described as turning through 360°, stir the mixture so it freezes evenly and stays smooth.
Capacity
The barrel holds 2 L in real terms, but the fill mark is what counts. VEVOR marks 2 L / 68 oz for cold drinks and 1.5 L / 50 oz for slushies, which is the maximum recommended fill. Slush expands as it freezes, so overfilling is unwise. A batch of 1.5 L typically serves several glasses, which suits a family or a small gathering.
Handle, cleaning and drip tray
An ergonomic handle helps with filling and pouring. For cleaning, there is a self-cleaning mode, and for a deeper clean you unlock the rear handle, remove the barrel and parts, and rinse them with water or put them in the dishwasher. A removable drip tray at the base catches spills. Check the manual to see which parts are dishwasher-safe.
Size and weight
The unit measures about 17.0 x 6.7 x 16.1 in (43 x 17 x 41 cm) and weighs 22.9 lb (about 10.4 kg). It is a countertop appliance, but it has a compressor, so leave space around the vents and keep it level.
Who it suits
It suits households that enjoy frozen drinks, such as fruit slushies, milkshakes and party drinks, and who want to make them at home. It is designed for home users, not for commercial service all day.
What to check before you buy
- Counter space: check you have room for a 23 lb appliance with ventilation.
- Recipes: drinks must meet the sugar levels in the manual, and alcoholic ones must stay between 4% and 16%.
- Batch size: the 1.5 L slush limit is lower than the barrel volume.
- Timing: allow up to an hour, longer in a warm room.
- Cleaning: check which parts go in the dishwasher.
- Who is drinking: alcoholic recipes are for adults only, and drink responsibly.
