The Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 FlashDry is a cordless wet-dry vacuum for hard floors. It vacuums and washes in one pass, using fresh water from one tank and collecting dirty water in another. Its FlashDry system then cleans and dries the machine itself, which is aimed at sticky messes and at reducing the upkeep that wet-dry cleaners usually need.
How the water system works
Tineco describes a balanced-pressure water flow system. Fresh water is applied continuously while dirty water is recycled into a separate tank, at a constant 450 times per minute. In general, keeping the clean and dirty paths apart means the brush roller keeps meeting fresh water rather than spreading grime around.
FlashDry self-cleaning
After use, the machine rinses itself with 158°F (70°C) water, which Tineco says dissolves stains from the pipe through to the brush roller. It then dries using 158°F sealed hot air. The brush roller turns in both directions and uses centrifugal air drying, which Tineco says leaves the brush fluffier and drier and reduces odours. A damp roller left sitting is a common source of smell on wet-dry machines, so this addresses an everyday annoyance.
Self-propulsion
SmoothPower detects movement of the rear wheels and helps you whether you push forward or pull back. Power-assisted drive typically cuts the effort of moving a machine that holds water.
Runtime and iLoop
Tineco says the S7 runs for up to 40 minutes. The iLoop system adjusts power and water use continuously, which the brand says means less refilling, emptying and recharging. As with any cordless tool, actual runtime depends on the mode used.
Edge cleaning
The dual-sided edge design cleans along baseboards and into corners to within 1cm on both sides, according to Tineco. For a wet-dry machine that is handy, because a wide roller often leaves a strip along the wall.
What a wet-dry cleaner is for
A wet-dry floor cleaner replaces the usual sequence of sweeping, vacuuming and mopping. It picks up crumbs and liquid together and washes the floor as it goes, so it is especially useful for sticky spills such as juice, sauce or muddy paw prints, which a dry vacuum smears or leaves behind. The trade-off is that it is heavier than a stick vacuum and has water tanks to fill and empty, and a dedicated cleaning solution is normally recommended by the maker.
Day-to-day routine
A typical session is to fill the clean tank, clean the floor, return the machine to its stand and start the self-cleaning cycle. Then empty the dirty tank. Tineco's FlashDry cycle takes over the step that people most often skip, which is rinsing and drying the roller.
Who it suits
It suits homes with sealed hard floors, such as tile, laminate or sealed wood, where sticky spills and pet mess happen often.
What to check before you buy
- Floor types: check which surfaces the maker approves, particularly for unsealed wood and rugs.
- Cleaning solution: use only the solutions the manual allows.
- Tank capacity and runtime: compare 40 minutes against the area you clean.
- Storage and charging: leave space for the charging stand.
- Upkeep: plan for emptying the dirty tank, and replacing the roller and filters as the manual describes.
